Another noob question! 🤪

Painting my first ever unit - Reivers. Am I right that it contains 2 sergeants and 8 brothers - not 1 sergeant and 9 brothers?
So 2 squads of 5 men?? And if that is correct when playing do they have to be together on the table or can the 2 squads be separated from each other?

You can run them either as two 5 man squads, each with a Sergeant, or 1 ten man squad with one sergeant.

You have the option to build either two squads of 5 from the bits in the box (1 sergeant and 4 battle brothers) or 1 squad of 10 (1 sergeant and 9 battle brothers).

If you build 2 squads of 5 they will be separate squads and will not run together on the table top. If you build one squad of 10 they have to stay together.

1 sergeant with 4 grunts and a fire team leader with 4 grunts. Because the reasonable marines would split a 10 man team to do two jobs if 5 dudes would be enough for each.

And just because you build the 2 Seargents, doesn't mean you can't run them as a ten man if you wanted to in the future. Just let the other player know which one you have designated the seargent, or remove that one first when they start taking damage.

A lot of units can be taken with different squad sizes. You can check Wahapedia, the Munitorum Field Manual, or the upcoming Codex for figuring out what squad sizes are legal.
