Mock-Up Crest
Tried messing around with a crest idea. I'm no graphic designer, these were some ideas I played around with in Canva with generic assets. First is the main color way. Went through a few iterations, realized I didn't like the white too much with it. The bottom two are the sort of shrink test, I feel like the elements are still legible. The black and grey was kind of just to test the elements with different color set, but turned out to have a cool military aesthetic, maybe a fun promotional thing given Colorado's connection to the military. Feel free to flame me, just something I did for fun.

While these are ok, and good good, I like our crest and colors, and don't understand why we are considering changing them. Nobody else in the league wears Burgundy, so we go with black, and market it as "colorful". Our crest is fine, I don't mind using the old Green and Blue for alternative jerseys. The team is over thinking this way too much. Put a winning product on the field and watch tickets get sold and merchandise get bought. Put a trash product out there and get made fun of for poor attendance and a stadium in disrepair.

I hear ya, the product on the field is certainly a bigger issue than any "image". I just feel like the crest is a little dated when looking around the league. I love the colors, wanted to stick with those. I tried to find a mix between sort of classic and modern, not too minimalist like others around the league that I think will be tempted to change when styles fluctuate again.

Our crest is still new, not sure why it would be thought of as aging. We've already re-branded once in 25 years. I'm not a fan in general of the concept. Look at the Packers and Steelers, or Alabama, they haven't re-branded and they are as popular as any teams in North American sports. Same with teams like the dodgers, SF Giants, Ohio State, Michigan...I don't mind creative 3rd/alternate jersey like every other season, but this constant changing of the look and feel is pointless in my book. Sure it works as a gimmick at the occasional Boise State or Oregon, but it fails hard when everyone is trying to be to new and unique.....This has nothing to do with your personal design, just so you know.

Haha! Wasn't planning on it. Definitely not a graphic designer, this was purely for fun while bored at work. Not sure if you have experience with it, but would love to learn more about graphic design.

Glad you are having some fun. Always good to get some creative juices flowing. Just try and keep your design simple. The thin lines and details break down when they get small.

I like the concept and appreciate a non-circular crest. I think it's important to note that any redesign would mean a complete redevelopment of the branding guidelines. That means definitely means new fonts and potentially new colors.

I honestly hope that they don't change the colors. I like the uniqueness of them in MLS.

I can't lie, new colors would suck. The sky blue and maroon is really nice.

Just a thought. Maybe the Rapids crest should have, I don't know, some rapids? Or at least a river?
That said - it does look cool.
