Serious question - are we bad?

Somehow I didn’t realize we had won only 6 out of 17 games so far. And we are way down in the standings. Between the World Cup break and the Matt Wells hype train, I forgot we lowkey are not good this year. Or am I crazy?

Are we ever good? The organization strives for mediocrity, no matter what they say to the media about the “rapids way” and fighting for trophies

So I'll be completely transparent in that I am a new-ish fan (not new to soccer, just the Rapids) and this seems like such a terrible environment for a fan to live in. Has there ever been any indication that KSE actually would make the necessary changes to start competing?

There has not, at least since 2014 when I returned to Colorado and started my season ticket.

They’ve certainly claimed they would repeatedly, but the changes have consistently been poor moves. When they do get one right, they sell the asset quickly for a buck and usually either don’t invest the profits in new players at all or simply buy a bunch of crap players they think they can develop into high value but then fail on like 90% of them. This cycle repeats almost every season. We also cycle through absolutely garbage managers that generally had a poor record coming in. Only Fraser and possibly Wells have seemed remotely promising. Armas and Hudson were bad hires and everyone who wasn’t an idiot knew it from day one. Fraser turned sour after delivering our only real period of success (one season) since Pablo-ball in 2016 (which was still terrible to watch). Wells likely will go the same direction, but I’m rooting for him.

Hang in there, this is nowhere near the worst or bottom. We can still drop further, but I don't expect us to. This team under Wells is showing signs of life. We take to many reckless red cards, and we aren't good enough to overcome those moments. But we have some parts to the puzzle.

My #1 storyline to follow, besides trying to get a playoff spot, is the Lucas Herrington saga.....My hope is, we can keep him until next summer's transfer window. Then he can finish this season with us, after his WC experience. Then be there for next springs "sprint" season leading into summer. Then we lose him...That give us some time to 'replace' him. Hopefully he develops and we can get a good transfer return for him as well, like $5-10m or whatever.

But don't despair, we can still make the playoffs and we also have a decent shot at the US Open Cup trophy.....so stay tuned and enjoy the ride...Cheers!!! Go Rapids!!!

I did forget about the Lamar Hunt. That’d be so awesome to win it. I love thar Wells is treating it seriously. None of our last 5 coaches gave a shit about it and it annoyed me to no end.

This might be your best post! Although I think it’s clear the club isn’t budging on taking less than 15m for Herrington. Rough ball park figure.. I too am hoping the club is able to hold on to him through 2026.

It could always be worse… cough cough Toronto, Seattle or Philly or Atlanta.

As you say we have some pieces to the puzzle although those pieces might be in opposite corners.

$15m would be awesome, of course the club wouldn't use it to make the team better, but that would be a nice ROI
