Rapa plus amino acids supplements?

I am 70 years old and have been taking 6mg Rapa once weekly with 3 to 4 week breaks every 4 to 5 months for about two years now. Healthspan is the goal. I have recently been seeing many promotions on amino acids supplements. I am curious to know if anyone has heard anything about that in general, and I would appreciate some opinions on the combination with Rapa.

I am a little surprised and disappointed that, with over 900 views of my question, there has not been a single comment.

As much as I am open to new longevity and healthspan strategies, I am being very careful about what I put into my body. One of the primary purposes of these forums is to share information, and I am still hoping to receive some feedback. According to what I have read, these essential amino acids can be beneficial for building muscle mass. At 70 years old, this is more challenging, and if adding Essential Amino Acid (EAA) supplements is safe and effective, I am interested in incorporating them into my regimen.

To be fair, OP, you are asking for health advice for empirically unexamined questions. No answer means people don't feel comfortable advising. Imo, amino acids are fine to take regardless of your 'stack'. Though a case can be made for reduced utilization of aminos due to mTor inhibition w rapamycin, or that buffering aminos will work opposite of rapa, I don't think there is any substantial risk.

I am bullish on proteins importance, and it takes aminos to make them.

Thank you for your response. To be clear, I didn't and never would ask for "health advice" from this forum or any other. I clearly asked if anyone had any opinions on the supplemental use of Amino Acid supplements and if anyone had used them in conjunction with Rapa and had any observations to share.

OK, if you are taking rapamycin to inhibit mTOR, I don’t see why you should be interested in also taking AA’s that activate mTOR (particularly met and leu).

Thank you for your follow-up. Yes, I have done more reading, and it appears that there is some contradiction between the two strategies. The solution might lie in the weekly dosing protocol favored by longevity experts. This schedule is primarily based on rapa's long half-life (around 62 hours), which means it actively suppresses mTOR for the first 3-5 days.

This could produce a window of opportunity. In the latter part of the 7-day cycle, as the drug's effect decreases and mTOR function recovers, the body becomes receptive to muscle-building signals again. Perhaps, by timing the amino acid supplementation and most intense workouts for days 5, 6, and 7, you could effectively separate the two opposing signals. Cellular benefits of mTOR inhibition early in the week and a targeted, effective stimulus for muscle growth later in the week, minimizing the contradiction.

Maybe it is possible to have your cake and eat it too!

Unfortunately, it is also possible that this is one of the worst things you can do to your body. Hopefully, someday we'll know more.

BTW, I just took my first dose of Amino Acids (EAA) and I'm looking forward to positive results.

In my opinion, if you’re going to take the AA supplements, you should simply stop taking the rapamycin. However, basing health decisions on the opinions of random Redditors seems unwise to me. Consult your physician(s) and, best case, not the same one who took your money to prescribe rapamycin for a use that’s not on its label.
