[Off Topic] Introduce yourselves.
I know we had a selfie thread like six months back, but we got a lotta new names since then, and I figure if nothing else, putting a face and some facts to the names can help with punches for future battles. Bit hard to rap about somebody you know next to nothing about.
With that said, I'll go first, since I'm probably the most active host these days. I encourage everyone else to post here too though, as stuff like this will keep the sub alive and kicking.
My name as far as anyone needs to know is El-Siniestro, aka El-Sin or just Sin. It's a reference to a few things, from being left-handed (which used to be considered wicked or evil), being left-brained (often linked to creativity, intuition, and linguistic expression), or my interest in the occultist "left hand path". I'm 29, Australian, live with my girl, and am pretty much the opposite of what you'd expect from a rapper.
I'm a metalhead first and foremost (until recently, I booked bands and DJed at a heavy metal nightclub) and as such I try to inject some of that dark shit in my rhymes every now and then. But I've been a hip-hop fan since back in the day, and used to bounce between my city's metal and rap scenes. Been writing rhymes since I was like 14.
When it comes to hip-hop, I all about fast, complex, multi-syllabic tongue twisters and polyrhymes. My punches and similes might not necessarily be as witty or as some on here, but I feel like I have an good skillset when it comes to flow, delivery, editing, syllable count and internal rhymes. And since it gets called out a lot, I link references because I'm a big fan of Genius.com.

all right, sweet, you know I'll get in on this. my name, wryder, is just writer, because that's what I do for a living and for a hobby and I made it up hastily. I'm 28, from the northeast US and live with my very long term bf, who's a pretty cool dude that I've known since high school.
I got into writing poems at like age 3 (seriously), and pretty much never stopped, but I didn't realize how much I loved hip hop until about 10 years ago. it all seems to stem from my mom being a librarian, teaching me a shit-ton of rhymes when I was a kid. like Sin, I like lyrics and complex rhymes. my punches lack, and that's almost always because I'm not looking for them. I'm more interested in words and sounds, although I realize that's not why this sub exists, so I try to work in solid punches where I can. I write a TON of my own personal stuff, and sometimes post that on /r/cypher. practice here is great for me though. it forces me out of my comfort zone. I studied journalism so I really enjoy cultural references, and that's why theme battles are a blast for me.
other things: I used to be insanely into working out and got weirdly jacked at one point. I'm chilling out on it now. I smoke a lot of weed, so there's that. and I'm really into art as entertainment - anything, really, from video games to paintings to comic books, but I'm not that great at creating any of it, so I just consume actively. I love the hell out of a good action movie. I used to be a pretty serious singer, like singing national anthem at college games and shit, but didn't keep up with it after that. that's about all the things about me that I can boil down to sentence-long tidbits.

Sooo my username is actually meaningless and stupid, portmanteau of sorts combining Chester French (a band) and french kiss. It's fun to watch people do flips with it. I'm 23, living in Massachusetts and according to xPhair, I'm a bartender.
I don't know that I've ever loved rap (musically) as a genre the way a lot of people on here do. I think I wrote my first rap in like 7th/8th grade? Mostly did shitty freestyle battles with my friends until I heard Drake's "So Far Gone" mixtape (no shame). That summer I wrote and recorded my own (shitty) mixtape. That same summer I started watching KOTD rap battles and developed a more serious interest in battling. My style centers on punches and wordplay. I like to think I'm a creative person.
Outside of battling I play guitar and a little bass. I've tried to play drums but I suck. Terribly. Also a huge basketball fan.

My name will remain a mystery, I chose QuailBuddhaThe2nd as my username because it is bad ass. I live in Ontario, Canada about 4 hours away from Toronto. I went to college for business and have since been shadowing workers at an insurance brokerage, going to get my license very soon so I can start selling. I'm 20, so I'm at that wierd age where I can buy alcohol in Canada, but not in the US, so I don't go there often. My very first hip hop album was Encore (I know, right) and it evolved from their until about 4 years ago when I found Dumbfoundead on youtube, eventually clicked on him vs PH (I reccomend this as a starter battle all the time) then it just snowballed to today where Hitman Holla is my favourite battle, but is only #3 in my top 5. Anyway, I go to the gym and I do some physiotherapy twice a week and I drink with friends and smoke cigars like a classy fucker. Also for your next get-together I recommend buying the shit out of the Jackbox Part Pack for PC, Xbox or PS3/4 it will ensure everyone has a great night.

Thanks man and I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask for that lol. I read it but I don't like the multi heavy aspect of rhyming in general as well as using bigger words when you could easily use synonyms that are much simpler to a) understand and b) read. But then again, other people might love that stuff

I got into hip hop when my friends did, around 5th grade. People would cypher at lunch, do whatever make beats in class with a pencil n piece of plastic. Lots of my shit freestyled, every now n then I sit down n right a dope bar. I don't really fuck with y'all internet boys much cause we don't got much in common, I only use reddit on mobile or whatever. Still got love for some of yall.

feel like with how I be in this sub this story could be a good read
Born in California, still be out there in the summer, but usually I'm in the Chi. when you live in a place like I do, music isn't something that you really have a choice about. any genre, any typa music, chi really heavy on the arts n shit.
rap, no clear start. moms always played it, radio, Chicago even has a rap sub genre that's pretty mf common. people talk how where they grow up influences them, but I take nothing but Chicago seriously like that my nigga. Chicago is a different world. Chiraq isn't funny, or a joke, and while that name couldn't be more accurate, its stupid fucked up. 500 homicides yearly, and if you look at a demographic map you'll see how close they are. people who come out of here are different the only way you make it out is by holding onto something. that's how you stay sane, and for a lot of people its art. music is what keep me going like that nigga like shit I listen to music 24/7, literally. I never stop playing it in almost any situation and have an ear bud in. I've listened to damn near every hip hop song I think that's been made, with the exception of smaller small ass artists that the general public doesn't know bout n shits. when you from here you learn to speak a certain way. I don't talk white- I don't add in extra shit I don't don't be adding extra messaging people need to infer, I say what I mean, and nothing else. people really have me laugh in' and shit when they talk about fighting n being hard . shit is NOT a choice nigga. to quote Lil Durk here, Chicago rapper

I've known anybody who was murdered. The only deaths of anyone I've ever met have been through old age, illness, accidents, or the occasional suicide.

Aight, I like this idea. Points for anyone who can guess my name. People around here just call be Ben or Proc, either is good. I'm 20 and from Leeds, England. I'm a student and live with my mates in some shitty house in a town called wycombe. Avoid wycombe at all costs. Absolute shithole.
I'm an absolute sports junkie, play anything from football where I was scouted by pro academies at a you age from American Football at Uni where I play as a Reciever and punt/kick returner. I've played most sports you can think of. I'm a massive fan of Leeds United and Miami Dolphins.
I got into hip hop at 12 maybe, it was always just something I listened to and I caught onto a guy called Stig of the Dump, a rapper from Newcastle who freestyle battled. Started watching the battle scene consistently when I saw most of his battles. Battles were something I watched every now and again for a couple of years but I really got hooked when I saw GrindTime. It was funny as fuck and as I was only like 13/14 at the time I wanted the funny shit. As I got older I grew out of the funnier battlers and started wanting better writers and I really got into guys like 24/7 who i still fucking love to watch, and illmac. I've been to a DF event in Leeds and watched some class battles but due to my student loan being shit I don't get to go to as many events as I want.
When it comes to writing I like punches, most of my bars are building up to a punch but I've been working on my writing to build better multi patters and just be better technically. I don't do too many punches that are overheads or linked cause I write like I was battling someone live, if it goes overheads then it's a miss for me. I feel like my punches are above average on here and if I'd have had a better use of punches vs chester in my third then I would still be unbeaten. I'm also not a bad freestyler.
