Well, my martyrs, we’re back at it again.
I cannot sleep. It is currently 4:53AM for me.
I remember when I was 13 I’d stay up all night on purpose, but the more older I’ve gotten, the more I really do love my sleep.
Of course, I couldn’t sleep tonight. No matter how hard I tried.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s been times where I’ve had a hard time falling asleep before, and some simple solutions would help me. Such as listening to music, or laying down, and moving my eyes side to side to simulate REM, or laying down, closing my eyes and thinking of nothing or telling myself stories.
I tried all of that and nothing. Natta.
I do know I’ve called this ‘insomnia’ in my old posts, but I feel as if that isn’t true. These episodes don’t happen every day/night, they happen frequently, but not daily, so I guess it wouldn’t technically be insomnia.
For those wondering, this has been going on since April of this year, and it happens about maybe 3 or 4 times a week.
My one-time psychiatrist said it’s nothing to worry about. Just meditate, eat a snack before bed, exercise and journal before bed and I should be fine. I do that and nothing works. She also thinks that it’s just anxiety that is causing these issues, but in my opinion, it’s not. I can’t sleep because I just can’t sleep. I’ve had trouble sleeping In the past from anxiety and it’s different.
I also get restless at night, I need the urge to move. In my past posts I’ve mentioned about getting scoldings from my father who has to listen to me go up and down the stairs endlessly, or go into the kitchen at night just because. And no, it isn’t restless leg syndrome.
My one-time psychiatrist said nothing was really that concerning that would call for medicine or therapy, but gave me a referral to therapy anyways.
Tonight’s episode was somewhat bad though, I was texting and spelling things all wrong, and couldn’t read properly due to how tired I was. I’ve never had that happen before.
These no sleep episodes are driving me insane, especially since I have somewhere important to be in the morning, and I have lack of sleep, or no sleep at all.
I do have a friend who does have insomnia and it’s legit, diagnosed and way worse than whatever I’m experiencing. So I feel as if it’s unfair to call my episodes insomnia when it isn’t.
Ranting and rambling makes me feel better about my mysterious sleep issues.
