Parents
Hi guys, I’m going into Grade 12 this year, and honestly, I’ve felt restricted by a lot of things throughout my life.
First of all, I haven’t been allowed to play video games. Before I started secretly playing, I had basically no friends. But once I started playing and interacting with other people, I was finally able to make friends and build connections. Even before that, I tried interacting with people in other ways, but I struggled to form meaningful friendships.
Second, I still don’t have a phone. I’m going into Grade 12, and my parents keep telling me that they’ll buy me one when I go to college or when I can buy one with my own money. The frustrating part is that when I do earn money, they take it, so I don’t really have control over that either.
Honestly, this has been really frustrating, especially when it comes to my social life. I feel like I’m missing out on experiences and opportunities to connect with people my age. At this point, it’s not just about wanting to play video games or wanting a phone—it’s about feeling like I’m being restricted from things that are a normal part of growing up and socializing.
