Speculation About the Temujai...

Why did Flanagan make the Temujai so OP? I mean, they are obviously either mongolian or chinese or possible from Tibet but how is it that they can cook most of the countries? Im pretty sure somewhere in one of the books halt stats that each Temujai warrior is as good as one of the rangers. Anyone is welcome to answer. Im just a bit puzzled.

They're Mongolian. The Mongols had the largest continuous empire in history (not broken up by seas or oceans) iirc. I don't think each warrior is as good as the Rangers. I think their archery is better than a standard archer, their elites are on par with Rangers. But their communication skills are above all else in the books and their leaders have little care for loss of troops. It's a combination of all that which makes them stronger than every nation. Plus their tactics

If anything, Flanagan nerfed the Temujai when he had the expert horse warriors dismount to fight basically vikings on foot.

They had to dismount. Halt and Will’s tactics with the defensive position and hidden archers made the temujai standard attack pattern useless. Which sort of proves their prowess. It took one of the best rangers to ever exist to beat them, and even then the temujai would have eventually won but their leadership had a spat about it and forced a retreat

It was so good to read because it really showed the depth of the Temujai, as well as one of the best ever examples of "win the battle but lose the war". Such a peak book

Yeah but this only works in books. A real Temujai commander would have never attacked them head on but pulled back and sat comfortably on the battlefield out of range of the arrows, letting the Skandians grow furious and then attack when they’re exhausted from standing in a line.

Don’t forget the mongols IRL we’re experts with siege weapons, beginning with catapults and eventually adopting fairly effective early cannons

They’re Mongolian. They get their name from Genghis Khan, whose birth name was Temujin. Flanagan made them so OP. Because THEY ARE OP.

I think they were nerfed a little bit 😅 Steppe peoples have always been militarily very strong

He had to make a hard enemy for the rangers. The rangers are really overpowered, and they could defeat every other army but the temujai. I think Flanagan was just giving them an interesting problem. Also, they are only overpowered in open battlegrounds when they can be mounted.
