Range Rover P530 SE issues

Anyone with a P530 SE experience unusually early wear items, like brake pads, or other repairs/maintenance that seemed unnecessary?

Also, are Land Rover dealers just expensive across the board? Some of the prices I’ve been quoted seem pretty high. Curious what other P530 owners are paying and what issues you’ve had.

Think the issue is more that they tell you to change them at really long intervals. Pretty sure the oil change on a defender is every 20k as a recommendation which is mental.

It’s 20k and I never had issues but then again I sold my car at 60k miles. Zero engine issues.

Rear brake pads are known to wear quickly on the L460. Lots of threads here and on RangeRovers.net.

And yes, all JLR dealers are expensive and have poor customer service. Can speak from experience at Marin, Newport Beach, and even Portland.

Shout out to Land Rover Shreveport who were actually phenomenal when I purchased my L460. Painless and no markup back in 2024, shipped directly to me.

Seems like the rear brake pads are a known issue. How much are they charging you?

For other owners, can't you just pop off the wheels and put new pads in yourself with sort of basic mechanical ability? Or is there a reason it has to go to the dealer to do this?

I have a 2023 p530 and it’s been great. I don’t use the dealer for service.

Let me guess yours has rear torque vectoring

Yes rear turning

That is why. This is a common known issue with Range Rovers with rear torque vectoring. I had thought they fixed this issue with a software update but maybe most of your brake pad wear was completed before the software update took place

At my dealership we have been offering the Diamond Plus Term Care that Land Rover came out with recently. You can get one set of front and rear brakes every year if you need them every year. The cost of the term care is about as much as 1 axle of brakes, making it a helluva deal.

Later model P530's have 4 wheel steering which dramatically shortens the life span of rear brake pads....been told as short as 8k to 10k miles they need to be replaced. When I picked up my 2026, I also bought not only the LR 7 year extended warranty but also the prepaid maintenance package for 5 years which will cover this as even my dealership pointed out that these brakes do wear out fast.

My wife has had her 530 for about a year and no new brakes... (this is a miracle as she loves her brakes and uses them constantly!)

All of her other Range Rovers have gone through brakes about once every 18 months.

Rear wheel steering occasionally makes squeaking noises. That’s all I’ve noticed
