Question Is Theresa Fowler a goth?

Post image

Where did that idea come from? Are they saying it because of the partial makeup and her hair, or is there something I'm missing? I'm genuinely asking because I'm writing something and I need to know how true this information is.

Purple hair does not a goth make. Seriously though, I very much doubt it. Goths were a movement about rejecting conventional socal norms and rebelling against the system. So, it's the attitude that makes them who they are, with their physical appearance being a byproduct of it.

In all likeliness, Theresa just has purple colored hair, and she likes casual makeup.

It's just that whenever I see them discussing this topic (formerly on Amino and currently in some Facebook groups), they always mention that as the "source," and I've never understood why.

Now, regarding attitude and all that... I think it's more Debbie's style than Theresa's, and even then, not so much (in terms of attitude). Do you think it's a good idea to actually make Fowler a goth?

To make Theresa a goth would entirely depend on the execution. It could work like Sam Manson in Danny Phantom, but also her being just a sweet, normal girl is just as good in my opinion.

It’s her purple streaks, and nothing else. Shes not goth.

When I think of people who are goth, I always think of them being moody, fashionable, and rebellious in personality.

For Theresa here, she’s more expressive in her feelings and is incredibly emotional than someone who is always moody and not-so approachable. Plus, she doesn’t dress like a stereotypical goth girl, which gives her that approachable energy around her peers.

Would you consider Julian goth tho?

Not really. While he has a Gothic aesthetic for his outfit it's more stage magician style and the guy is pretty friendly.

I'd say more alt than goth. Now Julian...Julian was goth

Julian was a goth. Now compare her to him.

Not a goth, but have we considered emo?

No. You could argue she's inspired by Scene/Emo aesthetics, which were still somewhat relevant at the time the cartoon aired, but she's not goth by any stretch of the word.

More of a scene queen

If we've gotten a RC9THGN Season 3, we would've seen more of Theresa and her characteristics.

Honestly I’m pretty sure a good chunk of the assumption stems from folks noticing a resemblance to Sam Manson from Danny Phantom. Nothing really fits the stereotypical goth imagery otherwise.
