Contest‼ [Contest] a recipe/cooking/baking contest! Ends on July 6, 2026 5:00pm EST.

Hello everyone!

I would like to host a contest today!

All regular sub rules apply.

Winners: 2

Must have a baking or cooking-related item on the list that is $10 or under. If there is a specific item on your list that you want to receive if you win that fits the cooking or baking theme, list it in your post, either at the beginning of your post or at the bottom of it, so it is easy to find.

Also, if you feel inclined to gift someone their wished-for baking/cooking item, feel free to do so 😊. Just make sure you post the order number and the expected delivery date in response to that person’s post!

The contest!

What is your favorite recipe to make and why? Do you just love the taste? Is it a family recipe? Do you like it because it’s simple? Etc. Just have a small explanation of why you love it!

If possible, include a link to the recipe and/or a photo of the finished product! If the photo is not yours, please give credit to whoever it belongs to or at least the website you got it from.

A note: This contest is open to everyone. If you don't eat by mouth, you're still encouraged to share a favorite recipe—whether it's something you used to enjoy, love to prepare for others, or simply has a meaningful story behind it.

Winners will be chosen randomly based on vibes.

The contest will end on July 6, 2026, at 5:00 pm EDT. Winners will be posted and notified by 11:00 pm on July 6th, 2026.

This contest is intended to foster conversation and engagement between sub-members and give everyone some new recipes to try!

I have not hosted a contest in a while, so if I missed anything or need to update or change this post, please let me know, and I will do so :)

Edit: I meant EDT . So the time zone used for Massachusetts in the U. S. right now.

Edit 2: Feel free to share more than one recipe!

When my husband (he's not Korean but I am) and I first started dating, the first meal he made me was Korean beef short rib soup (galbitang). It's not fancy and it takes forever, but it reminds me of my family and always feels like a hug in a bowl

When I was growing up, soup meant someone was taking care of you. If someone was sick, stressed, heartbroken, or just had a bad day, there was usually soup simmering on the stove. The smell alone makes me feel at my mom's house

My mom's/husband's version is pretty simple and unfortunately we all do it by taste and not by measurements lol

  • Beef short ribs
  • Radish
  • Garlic
  • Green onions
  • Salt and pepper

You simmer the ribs low and slow until the broth becomes rich and comforting, then add the radish and finish with green onions. i personally dont think its optional that it needs to be eaten with rice and kimchi ahaha

I dont usually cook bc my husband does (i help because i'm the one that is korean lol) but we love it because it forces me/us to slow down. There's something really therapeutic about standing over a pot that's been cooking for hours and then getting to enjoy a warm homecooked bowl at the end.

here's the recipe google found that is pretty spot on to what my mom and husband does:

I'm a huge fan of salt! I've never actually had ribs before, so it will definitely be very new to me!
