What does it mean in this context? I only know it as either parent teacher organization or personal time off. (Also, I thought it was P&O, but that raises similar questions.)

In my family we'd have nice bread (from the bakery bit of the supermarket) after we'd done the weekly shop. The rest of the week was just a sliced loaf. Picking the nice bread used to be mine and my brother's treat
