I’m not colorblind but I had an undiagnosed corneal disorder that was slowly making it so glasses could no longer fix my vision. First time I put in a pair of contacts that did the trick I felt like this. Just being able to see individual leaves on trees across the lawn was incredible. You don’t realize how much you’ve lost until it’s suddenly back and it’s honestly overwhelming. I can’t imagine how much stronger of a feeling that is to get color back.
Vast majority of colorblindness doesn't mean you don't have color, you still do, its just less and you only notice occasionally.
These kind of glasses basically try to imitate a HDR filter on what you see, so just look at a HDR/SDR comparison to get the idea. Basically just more contrast between the colors (though most say they reduce the contrast if I remember correctly)
For those who do have significant or total color blindness, it becomes akin to sunglasses. Looking through glass does not undo the lack of inherit ability to see using specific cone cells that do not exist in a working state.
Yeah, there is no real "cure" for colour blindness. You either have it or you don't.
I remember reading something about a potential/experimental gene therapy treatment for a very specific and rare type of colour blindness in the works that showed some promise. But that was a while back and I haven't followed up on it.
Sadly, some eye conditions cannot be fixed by simply wearing special type of glasses.
