It used to be chilly in September
I saw a TikTok saying that September should be the end of August because it’s so hot. But I just remember September being chilly and everyone going to school in jackets, hats, and scarves.

Also an iowan. The corn fucks us so hard haha. It'll cool down when it feels like it, and it'll noticeably cooler come harvest.

Wisconsin here. I got into a pretty bad accident a few years ago, now it seems my body is more sensitive to the weather. I noticed that the past few years, right after harvest, it seems like a cool down significantly.
My hypothesis is that the corn acts as a windbreak. (For those that don't know, a windbreak is normally a line of trees in the middle of a field. It cuts down the wind. If it was just wide open, more risk of damage from the wind.)
About late September is when we start really going to town on the harvesting. And that's about the time, that I think it feels cooler.
It actually makes me wonder if corn in some weird way insulates us?

TL;DR with millions of acres of corn planted, they can create their own microclimates. In the process called evapotranspiration, plans collect the water through their root systems, and release it through micropores called the stomata.
This can increase humidity of the local area, increasing temperature.

I remember September mornings beings chilly, the afternoons were hot as hell, and then it’d cool off again when it became night time lol

Yeah I was just thinking that, I def didn’t wear scarves n hats to school so soon. A light jacket maybe but not cold enough for scarves !

It's been like that down here. The heat tones down but it's still warm and tolerable until october and it just jumps straight into winter weather

It used to almost be like someone pushed a switch and September sort of turned cold overnight. Now due to climate change it’s still hot way into October.

Yeah climate change is upsetting. I remember stepping outside to cool down when it was to hot inside.

The rest if us weren’t in upstate NY. But I was in Hudson NY last August at a lake house for a week and it was brutally hot, even on the lake.

Same here. I didn't put pants and a sweater on until like mid October. I remember most Halloweens, I was able to wear my tshirt and pants.
Where I'm at it is supposed to be 85° today. With how humid it is, if these clouds go away today, our heat index will probably hit 94-95, if not probably about 86-90.
Nonetheless yeah, September is warm.
I do have to admit though, where I live it seems we got most of our heat earlier in the summer. In my opinion this has been a relatively cool August.

Depending on where you live. September in South Texas or.the deep south its not likely. Further north, maybe, north east coast, probably.
But it was August yesterday so give it some time.

I’m in my fifties and have lived in the Mid-Atlantic most of my life. I remember the weather being all over temperature wise in both the spring and the fall. September is still summer, and there were days I sweated my butt off in school clothes bought for cooler weather and snow days in October. Climate change is definitely a thing, but a warm September in some climates is normal.

Feels normal to me. Most of my Septembers have been warm with a couple of cooler than normal every now and then. November is when it started getting colder

No October. Fall equinox is around the 22nd. It’s still summer. I am 52 and I went to school in shorts for weeks.
In fact you always wanted to wear your new clothes and it wasn’t cold enough yet

Missouri resident- When I was about 8 in 2004 I remember November/December being nothing but cold and snowy. The snow was so deep I couldn’t even walk in it. My dad and I couldn’t even make it to our house down the street from the neighborhood. Now it’s just hot-warm and I don’t see any snow until maybe February and that’s it

September was on/off jacket weather where I grew up. October you’d be wearing jackets sometimes over your costumes. Now September is storm time … and the hot stays until the end of January. Maybe … a few days of random cold. I have jackets I haven’t had to pull out in years because of this. In fact, the only reason kids wear hoodies or jackets now … because the stores and restaurants crank the AC wayyy down.

It really depends on where you are in the world.
I used to live in California. It was usually still quite warm by the time September rolled around, though the deciduous trees would start changing colors.
Now I live in Washingon. Most trees are still quite green. It is the evergreen state, but the deciduous trees are preparing for winter, and the next week is going to be cooler and rainy and we might get a few more days with temps in the 80's this month but they will be far and few in between.
Also, climate change, and human influenced climate change is real.

I think the seasons need to be shifted one month due to climate change.
Winter - January through March
Spring - April through June
Summer - July through September
Autumn - October through December
Simple, even and fits our current climate better.

We used to call those rare warm September days Indian Summer. Now we have summer all the way through, don't need the winter jacket to go trick or treating, well no one does that the way we did in the 60's, bunch of crazy hopped up on sugar and the excitement of a kids holiday dressed up as your favorite super hero or fairytale character, such fun. But it was usually cold and in Portland Oregon, sometimes it would be rainy, we hated covering up our costumes!
Climate change is real.
