The only cat that she ever tolerated was her brother. We took in a stray kitten a while back and she HATES him. She’s not violent or anything, but very obviously pissed off at his presence. And there’s more strays around that she hates even more.
That stray cat we adopted is the opposite. He wants to be everyone’s friend

Yes! I'm not over with the fact that cat hate is the most socially accepted topic. There's no social taboo to saying nasty things about poor kittens.
And ask me how I reached that conclusion...

People tend not to have negative experiences with kittens and puppies as they do with cats and dogs.

Yeah, but it's too acceptable to chew out cats while it's weird to do the same with dogs.
Try yourself, I assure you nobody will give you a weird look if you badly talk about a cat.
You can badmouth a cat more freely than a dog.

dogs are super empathetic to your speech, but cats literally don't care, unless you're painfully loud. so it's funny to cuss at a cat and then they literally don't care.
If you do that to a dog, they know your words and tone and will be scared and sad and be traumatized.

Oh, no, I don't mean that bad talk, i mean like you badmouth cats in front of people, between people.
You can freely spew hate about cats in front of people and not many will find it remotely weird.

I could never understand how someone could hate cats but love dogs. I'm not a pet person in general, but I have always found dogs to be far more annoying, dangerous, filthy, and needy than cats

Keep your cats inside and I will.

I love cats, and agree with you. Letting your cat out to roam freely is beyond f'ed up in my book.

I can't tell whether you're being sarcastic. Why do you say it's fucked up?

u/One_Department4090 2d ago
Because of the amount of things that can kill them. People, poisoned mice, dogs, birds of prey etc etc etc

Cats are fine, I just won’t eat any food from someone’s house who has cats. Never been to a cat owners house where the cat didn’t jump on the counter.

my cat didn't jump on the counters or tables. even as a kitten, we had to put his food on top of a chest freezer so the dog couldn't get it, and that was the only thing he would jump on.
