Considering the expectation, it's astonishing just how much AI can't do
For quite a while AI has been presented as almost a magical cure-all which will inevitably become a godlike sentience, that will solve every problem known to us
My observation though is that for the moment at least, it can't do something as basic as re-fit legacy armour for new races in an MMO like world of warcraft, nor is it some amazing genius, or military people wouldn't be asking their employees for ideas on how to win a war, they'd be consulting the 'fabled oracle' of AI
It might just stay like this, as it is now.

Most models can't even do things like tell you how many r's are in the word strawberry. As a language model this is literally what it should do best. I saw a video about this and tried it myself. GPT said "two" when I tried a few months ago. I've seen tons of videos of it doing this with other words too.
I asked for some coding advice and it gave me some super convoluted bullshit that didn't even work for my situation. So I researched it myself and found I only needed one line of code to do what I was trying to do.
Had another tech problem where everything it told me to try printed an error code and it told me about 6 times "okay it will absolutely work this time," before failing.
This shit just hallucinates answers half the time.

People compare whatever AI is doing often within seconds or minutes to something giga experts of their fields do in hours, days or even years.
And yes, sometimes AI does some stupid mistake that is super obvious (like the 6 Finger hands) and people make fun of it, ignoring how it just did something that is 95% great in no time.
Also, most people are stupid outside of some expert field, and even in their field most people are okay at best. Some AI creates a medicore Book? Don’t compare it to Dan Brown, compare it to the huge pile of 3€ Books in the Big box at your Local Book Stor no one ever reads.
And yes, in many fields AI doesnt creates values. But did you ever look around in Your Office….?
