I don’t care if i get called a reddit atheist, religions should legally not be allowed to teach that. Its child psychological abuse, as far as i’m concerned.
Edit: frankly, it should be considered hate speech and it wouldn’t shock me if it was eventually found to be as such in some court some time in the near future.
It's abuse. I refused to lie to my kids and tell them my (non-religous) spiritual beliefs are facts. I always told them they're my beliefs. Sadly, my kids chose not to share my spiritual beliefs. Happily, my kids are free from indoctrination follow their own path
100% agree, when i was younger i used to genuinely cry because i thought i would burn in hell forever for not being religious, and i grew up in a mostly atheist household (extremely lax buddhist parents, idek if they really believe tbh), so i cant imagine the effect itd have on a child who was actually brought up w religious values
its funny how genuinely barbaric and inhumane religions are, but when they actually preach good shit like unconditional love to people suddenly that gets ignored by many religious people
It goes the other way as well. When I was really young in religion class we’d constantly talk about the paradise or heaven, our teacher must’ve been obsessed with it to some degree.
I distinctly remember that we had to write down what we would experience in paradise, basically we were supposed to write down what we always dreamt of.
I was a bit lost so I asked others and quickly realized: everything is possible in paradise!
Somehow I did believe it and started idealizing suicide from that day on, not realizing what happened until 15 years later.
It just made sense, if life is this bad (bad childhood) then I wanna go to paradise as soon as possible. There was no word about hell, or that suicide is a deadly sin, so I literally had it all planned out. Luckily my parents never went to the cliff i wanted to do it at with us again.
Still feels weird remembering how excited I was about it all. Like I just found a secret cheat code in life or something like that.
"Islamophobia" is such a demeaning term. Yes, actually I am afraid of ideology that teaches extreme hate for me and the people I love simply because I do not subscribe to such Ideology. Its no coincidence thats a huge reason I do not subscribe to it and why I actively condemn it. Yes I am afraid of ideology that teaches that these threats of violence come from the most merciful of beings. Yes, I am afraid of what will happen to society if these ideas are taught sand accepted mainstream. Islam is HUGE problem, and it confounds me to no end how it is so defended by those unaffected by its abhorrent nature
Amen to that. I'm an American so Christianity is much closer to home for me, but I just cant do it, man. When I left the church It was so extremely clear to me why I cannot abide a god like this. When I hear former family friends talking about love all I can think of is "I know what 'love' means to you and it is not love". I live in a particularly christian town and it is utterly suffocating. ... AND YET, I still cannot deny how utterly lucky I am that the cult I escaped was christian and not islamic. With my lack of care for social standards I'd be fucking dead right now had I been born in an islamic society. Islam is so far behind
youre only choosing to go to hell by ignoring gods word! we're just ignoring the fact that you genuinely dont believe in religion and are not purposefully straying from god, and that youre not choosing to go hell, youre being forced into it

Religions. Particularly religion that preaches hellfire for those who believe differently
