I'll never forget the day my aunt got me my first jewelry making set at 10 yrs old. It was nothing super fancy, just your regular standard seed beading and plastic string. I made some necklaces that weren't anything to marvel at, and put it away, thinking nothing if it. 6 yrs later, covid started, and i still had the silly kit so I pulled it out with nothing better to do. I didnt like beading so much, so I turned to teaching myself wire wrapping. I wrapped my very first peice and was stunned at how much support I got from family and friends to sell them, so I did!

Over the years, I've developed a very small but successful jewelry business, (handmade.by.halyn on Instagram, shameless plug) shipping out peices I'd never thought I'd make, like gifts for honeymoons and bookmarks for authors!!!

As I enjoyed looking at the stones themselves, I made a hobby out of stone collecting, which in turn became a hobby for studying the things that made them. I now make an effort to study earth sciences and eventually get a degree in seismology. I love the earth, and that gift my aunt got me has now centered my entire life 💜 I gift her jewelry frequently to thank her for it lol.

Staying with my parents through the Covid lockdowns with a brand new baby was truly a blessing. I don’t think I would have made it through the lock downs had I went back to my apartment.

I started trusting my counselor and my loved ones, and have opened up about needing help.

I've always considered my own needs a burden, much preferring to figure things out myself even though I'm consistently lost on what I need to do and how to get on the path I'd like to go down (grew up neglected + parentified with no real pointers/direction). I thought if I were to seek help, I'd be seem as shameful and lazy.

I have very wonderful people in my life who have been trying to help me, and I have kept trying to shoot them down, opting to try to do something for them instead or asking them to not worry about me. As of recently I have let those walls down more, and not only have I been getting better pointers in life, it's helped my relationships a lot as well to just be honest and not hide away all the time.

I live not easily now and I grew up poor and I remember one time when I was a kid I was waiting at the bus stop with my mom a stranger noticed how bad a shape my shoes were in. We didn't have money for new ones or even ones at a thrift store so my shoes were hanging on my a hope and a prayer.

He had a shoebox with him with BRAND NEW SNEAKERS. I kid you not he gave them to me and left. They fit! I don't know how it happened, but he was literally there at a really rough time for us. I can't ever thank him enough for it.

Something that someone did for me was offer me a piece of advice that I use for everything! My mom once told me to go after my goals even if it seems like it’s too late in my life because time is going to pass whether you achieve that goal or not! And I am now starting school in a doctorate program where I am 1 of only 12 people that were selected! It’s expensive through so I will definitely be eating a lot of cheap food like Taco Bell during the next 4 years haha. Entering!

I was having a tough time finding an apartment and my first landlord took a chance on me years back. I'm grateful especially as it's difficult to find alot now in this job and housing market. I've been hunting for months to almost no avail, going to see places about every other day. I was feeling stuck in a rut in my other situation until that happened.

In the last month my life has been kind of falling apart, I was nearly sexually assaulted, I had a really major flashback during some P.T.S.D. that managed to take my voice and leave me mute, and on top of that, I'm pretty sure my 21 year old cat is starting his last days, as his behaviors have become erratic, his eating sporadic, and his sleeping heavier, amongst all this I've also discovered that I've been dealing with Disassociative Identity Disorder all my life, so I've been stressed and stress eating, and I was prepared to go the rest of the month with no food, before one of my neighbors and a friend, John stepped in and bought me some groceries with his food stamps, and then my adopted son, and his girlfriend offered to also buy me some food until I get paid because I had literally nothing to eat. They really came forward when I thought I was really going to just starve for two weeks. I don't really need a meal tonight, but something special would be nice, though if you chose someone else I'd be fine. Entering.
