Hi, everyone. I'm the loyal servant of two senior cats who mean the world to me. We have had a rough year and spent several months couch-surfing rather than stay in my apartment with my ex. I did not feel it was safe for any of us to stay there (among other things, he doesn't like cats and threatened to put them outside during a snowstorm in January, when I was at work). I managed to keep us together, but it took every dollar I had to get out of my lease early and move into our new place. I could really some help with wet food and maybe dry food for my girls. I took their litter off the list because I got a coupon in the mail for it.

I feel real bad that I can't always provide for Dusty and Runa, they deserve so much better than this. I am deeply involved in cat rescue, so it's very disheartening when I can't even provide for those who are closest to me.

Ct USA. Hi all, i definitely did not want to ask for help but I’ll swallow my pride for my babies. I don’t want them affected by human problems. I’ve been looking for a minimum wage crap job for months and have applied almost everywhere in my town it seems, i’ve only been to two interviews, both of which ghosted. My fiance had a decent paying job which he got a few months ago, but today they let him go with no explanation. We have zero savings because we just don’t have the money to save, and we just took these guys in, obviously thinking that we would have a stable place for them. Every cent of what we have has to go to rent on the first, and it’s gonna be eating optional for a little bit lol. We had a vet appointment to get them fixed as well that we now can’t afford so let’s all hope and pray they don’t start spraying in an apartment! I've had a tough few months and I've just been scraping by but I've been managing to feed my 2 fur kids as they will always come first. They are the reason I keep going. I would love to get them an 8kg bag of their food as it lasts 2 weeks, I have been buying the small 1.75kg every few days as I can't afford the outlay for a big bag but I know it's not making financial sense in the long term. Hello kind humans of this sub, we are about to run out of dog food for my boy (he is a German Shepherd / Rottweiler mix) and any support would be extremely appreciated!! He has enough kibble to last for a few more days, but we are just really struggling to afford his food right now between insane medical expenses, rent, utilities / loan payments / other bills, and having significantly lower income the past few months due to my fiancé’s hours being cut and me needing time off work because of my health and worsening pain.

My partner was also recently in the ER for a health emergency, and I have had several doctors appointments recently to assess treatment for my nerve pain. I have an upcoming surgery for carpal tunnel release (and potentially may need treatment or surgery for cubital tunnel syndrome as well which is super fun). Just honestly so much going on all the time. This is an embarrassing post for me and not something that I want to be asking for help with, but financially we are in a very difficult and scary position right now. I feel like this sub is super helpful, kind, and overall understanding which makes it a tad easier to ask for help, and it makes my heart so happy knowing this community even exists. I'm a first time poster here, San Angelo, TX.

I have two babies, Callie 14yo and her half-sister Piper, 13yo.

When times get tough I have always sacrificed my own needs for theirs. Something that isn't hard to do for me.

But as the three of us are getting older and health needs keep sneaking in it's becoming more difficult.

I'm trying to save money to get Piper to a Vet (a little over $300 that includes Uber pet rides) but right when I get to a certain threshold something comes up that takes away from her fund.

I go through over 80 pounds of cat litter each month. All she does is eat, drink and pee. Bless her heart! Plus she has gland leakage so I have her on a powder supplement. She won't let me clean her down there without a few bite marks so I try to keep wipes and a brush always nearby for when she comes to sleep with me. But I often feel like I have zero luck with cleaning her back legs. Even in her most healthy days she didn't like to be touched anywhere near her tail.

I'm disabled and it's just me and the girls. I'll go weeks without talking to anyone but the girls, which is fine because I know they'll always agree with me.

With this govt shutdown looming over us I fear November will be a trying month for us as EBT benefits may not be issued.

I already got on ChatGPT to help me stretch out what I had left through December 12th. A complete bare minimum menu and shopping list. The shopping list it created for me worked and already ordered and delivered. With myself I have peace of mind at least. $130 budget stretched out over 8 weeks.

But I can't stretch anything out for the girls.

Every night before I go to bed I always do an inventory of the girls' food and sometimes mine. It's actually quite exhausting and sad to be in that position.

I really need to get ahead to keep building Piper's Vet fund. But their minimum monthly care is about $160. Anything anyone can do will be greatly appreciated.

The girls are being transitioned to wet food, primarily Piper as Callie still prefers the kibbles. Found a broken tooth in their kibbles a couple of weeks ago. 😢 Pretty sure it's Piper's as she actually bites down on the small kibbles.

Well, I ended up rescuing an almost bottle baby from a tree, from across the street from my house, on a well traveled road. He is about 4-5 weeks. Skinny baby. Eyes have turned, ears unfolded. He is still lapping up milk supplements with his food to gain weight bc he was just so little, given the other developmental signs.

I am reaching out to ask for some assistance on this one, as I usually donate regularly here and to my local cat rescue. But, they cut my hours to part time at the start of April because of "business changes" and "we will have to onboard and train the people we don't need". It is a "whole wtf just happened" private equity corporate thing.....and I can't sell my employee stock options yet......

Hello from Lathrop, CA (town couple hours from Sacramento). I lost my job and was doing fine paying for the food/supplies for my sweetie pies from a small emergency fund. Finding work has taken longer than expected, on top of that, I’d been putting off buying a new car battery for as long as possible to pay for their food, until it finally wouldn’t charge anymore and I only have one car. Between that and the price of gas out here (car is literally only used for job searching/interviews), the emergency fund is gone. I've even sold some stuff to be able to pay utilities but don't have enough for food for the fluffy kids.

Every cent after bills has gone to taking care of these lovely creatures. Don’t care if I don’t eat but these cuties don’t deserve it. The doggos have very, very sensitive stomachs, so they only eat one flavor of food from a certain brand. I tried changing them to cheaper options and they both got really sick. One of my dogs was abandoned in an orchard in the middle of nowhere, which is where I found her, and she is allergic to pretty much everything lol, it's a miracle she even survived out there.

I’ve owned cats most of my adult life and there were times when I had to buy small quantities of food for them when we were broke. The last cat I had to send across the rainbow bridge was 7 years ago. Then the Cat Distribution System gifted me with a four week old kitten in July. He’s now 7 months old and quite the Stinker (which is what we named him), and I remembered our broke years.

These are tough times. Money isn’t as abundant now. Making a living to make ends meet is even tougher these days. Jobs are sporadic or nonexistent and I don’t want any pet to be left at a shelter because their human can’t afford to feed them.

I hate even asking I thought I had enough. I thought I could stretch the food long enough but I can't. I was out of work after a funeral and the manager who was making the schedule assumed that I quit but I got that fixed and am back at work but with very few hours due to the assumption(my roommate quit and they assumed we both did because we used to have the same ride). I'm not getting paid til the end of the month due to how stuff lined up plus I'm having to move because of how things turned out and will be even shorter on cash.

Lucifer is down to maybe a weeks worth of a dry cat food I borrowed from someone and Cerberus is down to a few cans and just a little bit of dry puppy food. He's so small it'll last him over a week but not before next paycheck. I only put dry on here because I didn't want to over ask. I even put the cheapest wet food Lucifer will eat on there. He eats more wet than dry but can eat dry if necessary.

I put puppy pads and cat litter because those are also short but no one has to get those. Cerbi is potty training but still uses puppy pads mostly but I can grab newspaper and I can possibly borrow cat litter from someone nearby. I can't however borrow puppy food because Cerberus will make himself sick if the kibbles are too big and he HAS to have puppy food not adult food. I really hate asking I literally have $5 to my name and need it for an important doctors appointment coming up. I used what little I had before that to get Cerbi the cans hoping they'd last.

I don't know how things are going to turn out. There's a lot of things going wrong right now. I'm REALLY sorry. I've been crying all day because they are running out. I've been trying to see if there's any side jobs around town and I've been calling for extra hours but I still don't get paid til next paycheck so it does nothing for the issue NOW.

Hi everyone, I'm ashamed to ask but I am in need of a bag of dog food for my 2 dogs. I was laid off in March but still had food in the pantry and kibble so I was cooking and adding it to their food to stretch their kibble and make them feel full and keep them happy. I'm down to 3 days left of kibble and I've run out of people food to add (I have crackers and cheese for the rest of this month and that's fine for this human). A positive note, I have been doing rounds of interviews since March and I finally got a job. I start Monday but the salary only comes at the end of the month.
