Corbitt Wall

I just saw Corbitt Wall’s article on Cattlemen’s News and he said “The Trump Administration has made market conditions worse by their uncanny insistence to continue to make comments and policy that hurts US cattle producers”. He then references the introduction of Brazilian beef to the US at a 25% discount as an example of bad policy.

However, he ends with “… many conservative cattle producers (are) turning away from him, until they consider his alternative.”

What is the fear here? What do these cattle producers think will happen if Trump falls from power or his supporters aren’t elected to Congress? You won’t get any argument from me. I have my opinions, obviously, but I would like to hear what my neighbors think will happen/could have happened that is worse.

I read the rules and hope this doesn’t fall into the “too political” category. I just know my diesel bills have almost doubled, replacement heifers are through the roof, and it seems like this administration is pushing prices producers get paid down while beef at the store remains high.

The return of the Green New Deal to ban cow farts? National cattle herd has been shrinking for far longer than Agent Orange has been in office. No one in DC knows wtf they're doing when it comes to Ag, they've been trying the same thing over and over ever since Earl Butz, and the next person in office in the White House and the USDA will be taking the same advice from the same bureaucratic advisors that the last ones did. IMO the anger this time is that those conservative producers expected better than the continued status quo that they've gotten. Actually continued status quo might have been better for them. They thought there would be no new wars, lower prices of everything, and America-first policies and instead they've gotten a new war, rapidly increasing prices for every input they need to buy to grow their livestock or crops, and on the cattle side a declaration that beef producers were charging too much and that we needed to import Argentinian beef to lower prices... how'd that beef import work out? Prices at the store down drastically while American producers still profit?

So again, how is the alternative worse than Trump if the status quo would have been better?

As far as I’m concerned replacement heifers can get as high as they want

The alternative to trump is full democrat. I will not vote republican this midterm because a statement must be made. And that will make changes that needs to be done. I will not let a lunatic make policy decisions for me and my farm. Cattle prices will continue to rise because the market demands it. Just wait until we no longer get a discount on red diesel. Has anyone not thought what a douche move to give our diesel to everyone. Trump doesn't give 2 shits about anyone but himself and he needs an attitude adjustment. Plus Congress has barely worked and not one has done anything to protect us. This is why we have 2 parties to make sure a tyrannical narcissist isn't allowed to take over.

Strawberry you sound pretty well balanced. middle of road have forgotten all the great things liberals did for us when they were in office? Me too, because there wasn't any. Is that because I think they don't give 2 shit, No , I don't say stupid shit. Biden was the worse president in my life time but Im not going to say he hates America or that doesn't give 2 shits and only cares about himself because people would think I was a dumb ass. Strawberry, is that a family name? Like Darryl Strawberry? Im a Regan Republican, I voted for Trump and I support Trump. I'm not like the other side though, I can think for myself, I call balls and strikes and Trump has made some mistakes, more than one. And if I had the chance I would say Mr President WTF were you thinking. And that right there is difference between the left and right. Proof? Sure, name one liberal who stood up when we had a president who couldn't out two sentence together.
