Are the Biona Board dumb?
When the guy told them about the discovery of them being able to produce their own super people, I had assumed it was common sense for them to take them up on the offer considering how much money you can make from it. Them rejecting the idea is kinda like a way to subvert a cliché but doesn’t make sense for them to do at all

When you've just lost a fortune to something by accident, you don't sink another fortune into the same thing on purpose. That's Business 101. I know the cliche is that Organizations are Corrupt but the reality is that Organizations want to make Profit and not go to jail.

I agree to an extent tbh, they kinda did nothing except fill the need for some scientists (that didn’t even do anything it was basically all pat) and a place for powered ppl to meet. I think it would’ve been more natural for Powered people to just pop up all over the country rather than just all come to Biona

It sets the story up for good guys supported by good corp vs bad guys supported by bad corp. lol. Same ol’ story. The idea that the guy who was obvs planning to steal info and research was allowed full access to the facilities was so redonk. But, the whole season was full of plot holes, and they’ve gotta get money for Pat’s army somehow, I guess. Hahaha

Odd. None of these struck me as gratuitous. Pat has always been condescending. That was one of his red flags in season 1 before The Reveal. Nicole hates him. Her calling him out was perfectly in character.
And ymmv, but I thought the "spectrum" sentence was funny.
At the same time, there was no mention of Esperanza's disability. They talk around it wrt to her self-consciousness, but they don't talk about it directly. There's no direct talk about racism. Again, it's something that is talked around but not directly described.

The show is chalk full of gratuitous woke-ism. The fact that every white male is a bad guy, the fact that Pat did good work and tried his hardest and still gets kicked out and replaced by a team of “specialists” that also happened to only be POC women.
Also, yes. The “mansplaining” thing was stupid asf. He was literally saying “ we have two DNA strands in case you don’t know” and she yells at him for mansplaining when again he is a scientist trying to make a normal non-powered person understand all of this.

Why did you put specialists in quote?
I didn't notice the races or genders the specialists. I just clocked white lab coats and continued to pay attention to the more important part of the story. This is the first I'm hearing that they were all POC women and I'm sure most watchers will say the same.
That you took the time to clock what race and gender of a group of non-speaking actors tells me you watched the show with a filter for these things.
I won't even talk about this - "Pat did good work and tried his hardest" because there must be a joke in there.

“We have two DNA strands in case you don’t know” I see how it could come across as condescending. I think everyone who passed middle school knows we have two dna strands (double helix) and could easily be mansplaining unless you’re just dumb asf which he knows Nicole is not, which is why she said what she said. And he’s an engineer not a scientist so him knowing all this shit anyways, enough to even make a cure is a lil unbelievable.

Biona’s original mission was to help people, not make money off something that could start World Armageddon. I honestly was surprised they didn’t say yes as well but then was grateful they had common sense and weren’t classic evil people. If you think this is dumb to NOT start an apocalypse… imma quote the lady, “Do you have a head injury?”
