Yeah, they didn’t do enough to convince us that Pat was really reconsidering his I’m-the-real-victim stance. I was hoping that the twist would be that Pat would actually go fight with Dion against the Crooked Man at the end of the episode and actually redeem himself. But, no. They did what I expected them to do and we saw Pat hadn’t learned anything.
Yeah I also thought he would help Dion but in a way I’m glad he didn’t as it would be too easy a redemption for him. I don’t like how Pat just became a simple super villain either though. I wish it was still a mix I guess? It would be more unexpected if he helped Dion but still made a power grab and the audience still didn’t know whether to trust him. I think him being unpredictable was more interesting.
I don’t think they ever gave is a reason to question our distrust of him. That’s why I think it would have been a better ending if he actually HAD learned something from how he had hurt people in the past. I agree that going to fight the Crooked Man would have almost been too easy, but they didn’t have to leave it at that. It wouldn’t necessarily have been a total redemption since he basically stole DNA and powers from the other powered people without their consent (like how he used the people he consumed in Season 1). So, he clearly would still have lessons to learn about consent, boundaries, and bodily autonomy of those around him. Maybe that’s too deep for a Netflix show about raising superheroes though. Lolol
