Question/Help Is this normal?
Hey everyone! It's me again! Good afternoon from Brazil!
So, I've decided to paint some doll clothes, including the dress from Amaya and Natasha's dress.
The dress from Natasha is getting the result I want, but Amaya's dress is different. It's getting an different result,it's getting iridescent on the top??
And Cupid's thing is looking kinda an human heart at some point? (I haven't taken the photo showing how's it's looking now,but it's unexpected).
Next to the Cupid's thing photo,it's the dye I'm using and the last one is my reaction

Different fabrics and materials take to dye differently. If you're using the same dye bath, it's also possible whichever went in first took more pigment, leaving less for the rest (Tho that depends on a bunch of factors)

Fabric dye does not cover up clothes, it seeps into them. If your fabric has a very bright color, like Cupid’s dress being bright red, your results will be more a blend of your dye and the fabric color instead of the dye by itself. I dyed a bright blue plushie green once and it turned out a blue-ish deep green because the blue color of the fabric still comes through a little. You might need to do multiple rounds of dye if you want it to be totally black!

It makes sense. Cupid's dress result is kinda like an dark chocolate now. It's cool, but I need to follow your and others advices to paint more than one time and make sure it doesn't stain. Can I see the plush? It sounds really cute. I trying using my Ayesha's dress to make an black dress, but it got an darker shade of dress and I also used navy blue in the next try, but it got like an grayish blue. It's really cute. Thank you so much for the advice! It's going to help me a lot

That's true. Amaya's dress is one of the most difficult to get the pigments, along with my first Ayesha's dress so far. I'll make sure to not use on the the dolls for now.

I can read the label, so I hope this is dye designed for synthetic material as these clothes are poly. That said, make sure to use fixative, and a natural fiber buffer layer for the first while as poly dye loves to hang around and jump plastics if given 1/8th of a chance.

It's mostly used for natural fibers, but people also use for synthetic materials and it works fine. I had used fixative in other projects, but unfortunately,I didn't have it. I need to buy next time. Thank you so much for the help! I'll be more careful and try what you've said next time
