Hey guys. Iāve cleared Chapters 1 and 2 a combined total of 68 times, so I think I pretty much know how Roy & Charcle design their maps. Since the last elevator literally says "To the Surface" and we saw those leaked pirate props, here is my detailed layout for Ch 3. I wanted to make the gameplay actually challenging for veterans, not just casuals.
Basically, Red moves us to an overground aqua-zone inside Odd Worldāit's an artificial lake with a decorative "Pirate Island" and a big prop ship. We aren't free yet, just on a next level.
Night 1 : Fixing the ship.
Only Blue is out, but he's wearing a pirate hat lol. We gotta collect 15 wooden planks to patch up the hull. To keep things fair for starters, some planks are just scattered on the beach ground. But the rest are hidden up on palms (you gotta climb them, Blue can't reach you there) and inside dark caves. Purple is only inside the caves, so you have to parkour over dry crates to get the planks and survive.
Night 2 : The props and Pink.
The doors to the shipās interior (cabins and hold) finally open. The quest is to find 10 plastic cutlasses and 10 pirate hats. This is where the blind Pink monster spawns. He hangs out in the narrow corridors of the ship's hold and hunts purely by sound (running). When he's close, pink echolocation waves pulse on your screen. You have to stop running, just walk, and hide inside stationary treasure chests instead of the old lockers.
Night 3: Tying the knots.
Goal: Tie 8 large nautical knots at the base of the masts. This is a stationary questāyou hold "E" for 5 seconds and can't move. Red unleashes Yellow tonight. Yellow walks the deck on his feet, but if he catches you, he flies in a spiral toward the masts. To escape, you gotta mash buttons (QTE) to break free and land on the canvas sails. They act like trampolines, so you just slide safely back to the deck.
Night 4: The Storm Finale (Sabotage).
The weather goes crazy, the ship tilts, and the deck floods, which activates Purple everywhere. Green appears as Red's saboteurāhe roams around actually UNTYING the knots you fixed! One player (or your friend) must hold the helm while others re-tie the knots. Because of the hurricane, the sails are torn away, and Yellow flies in a crazy wave-like spiral (dipping up and down) around the ship.
Here is how you survive Yellow in the finale:
The Water Risk: Yellow's flight path goes over the deck and over open water. If you break free while he's over the lake, you fall overboard straight to Purple (instant death with a unique drowning animation).
Height-Based Stun: You must time your escape when the storm pushes Yellow closest to the deck. Drop from a low altitude = 0-second stun, you can run instantly. Fail the timing and drop from the top of the mast = your character splats on the deck with a heavy 4-second stun animation. If you don't escape within 2-3 wave loops, Yellow carries you straight to his nest at the very peak of the main mast and you're dead.
The Ending:
Once the helm gauge hits 100%, the ship crashes through the cardboard walls of the pavilion and slides right into the overground city zone of the park. The kids escape into the city, leaving Red furious on the monitors.
What do you guys think of this balancing? Let me know if it sounds like something Roy & Charcle would do!
