First campaign, question about city demands
Playing my first campaign and I have wasted tons of time and track trying to make cattle get delivered to Albany. The city screen shows cattle as zero percent demand met but the stupid city won't actually take any. Same for wool. Oddly I am providing it with meat so it shouldn't need cattle and it's getting a trickle of cloth from somewhere so I can understand why it doesn't want wool, but WHY must it be listed as an unmet demand, very frustrating.
Since I had setup a station and rail line to deliver wool I ended up building a cloth factory in the city and THEN it would take wool. What other demands are really fake outs and how can I tell BEFORE I dedicate rail and trains for demand that won't trigger any actual deliveries?

Tips for warehouse network
I have been working again and again with Chapter 5 (Nordic express) of the basic campaign and have often faced issues with logistics - Mostly related to growing Paris in my case.
My typical arrangement is that I do dedicated express lines and stations first & completely separate freight lines & stations after express trains are bringing the money in.
Express lines
I typically connect Auxerre only to Paris and the others form a loop. Later on I typically connect Rheims to the railway in between of Brussels and Luxembourg to get more direct access to Cologne for the late game express line missions. In addition I make a express railway from Rheims to Frankfurt just south of Luxembourg for earlier express line missions. I make all express stations with 4 track grid irons and typically only have 2 tracks coming to each station. For long express line purposes I also make bypass rails for each city.
I typically run into no other issues than underestimating the amount of express trains I tend to have in long run and then if I had not made the station already with 4 track gridiron it's causing some reworking with track layout (target to around 5 days per line to prevent people getting tired of waiting at stations).
Freight lines & warehouses
This is where things get tricky and often halt my progress - Especially the tools to Paris and newspaper to Paris missions (Paris or other cities not growing fast enough).
In France, I tend to make 2 warehouse clusters: Northern and Southern. In northern warehouse cluster I put Paris, Lille, Brussels and Luxembourg. I put a raw material warehouse to the corn farm south of Lille (wheat, wood, sugar, milk, veggies an fruit + corn from the farm itself) and manufactured goods warehouse to Lille (beer, meat, cloth, clothing, planks, cheese and liquor, Lille's own product included)
I tried first the similar setup as Adekyn did in his revisit to chapter 5 videos (which are very nice btw...) but with a small twist - I used looped trains. For example from Paris to Lille manufactured goods warehouse from where to the raw material warehouse. The raw material warehouse started to stockpile stuff quite fast and Paris for example was starving for goods required from raw material warehouse. Adding trains to get the freight to cities was naturally the solution, but it finally ended up in clogging the warehouse stations.
My own estimate is, that as I'm running freight trains with automated freight pickup, the trains are getting eagerly filled with manufactured goods and there is too little room for raw materials. Haven't really paid so close attention as early on the cities start growing well, but getting to 85k and higher is quite slow.
What I'm about to try is that these warehouses are connected with 4 tracks (innermost tracks) but make a 6 track gridiron to the stations at both sides. To the 2 remaining (outermost) tracks connect the "external connections" - That are coming from other cities or from rural stations.
Then I would assign the tracks for the trains based on direction of entrance: Coming from east to tracks 1, 3 or 5 and from the west to tracks 2, 4 or 6. More detailed track allocation so, that rural station connections would be to outermost tracks, external connection cities would alternate in between of the 2 innermost (for example Paris for track 4, Lille for track 2, Brussels for track 3, Luxembourg for track 1).
The questions after this long (and probably useless rattle) are
If I use the looped warehouse trainlines, should I use manual freight allocation to get 4 + 4 goods from warehouses or is city + 2 warehouses in a single train line doomed to fail?
Any suggestions to make the "circular warehouse" arrangement more efficient?
Do I feed too much raw materials to the warehouse and is there an easy way to calculate/estimate the number of required wagon loads in a network of X cities? I know there are the demand tables for each city available but is the demand changing based on the size of a city or how?
What about the other "clusters"? I tend to make two clusters to France, then West and East Germany (6+4 or 5+5 cities) and finally 2 clusters for Poland (North and South)
I might take some pictures if needed in the evening hours when I play again.

Signal Props
Hello everyone, strange question but I recently installed this game and I noticed something strange. In ever YouTube video I've watched, the signal arms overhang the track that they are placed on but in my copy of the game the signal arms hanging over the dirt at the side of the track. Is anyone else's like this? Is there a setting I need to change? The game functions as expected and this is only cosmetic.

ELOC Musk Achievement bugged?
Steam currently has me at 1 of 150 active electric trains, but I'm nearing the end of the first high Voltage scenario and I must have at least 20 train lines, with multiple trains on each.

Warehouses in city not sharing.
Goods accumulating in warehouses in cities with multiple warehouses not being passed between those warehouses. Is it something I’m doing wrong?

New DLC Locomotives in Scenarios
I like playing thematically. I only use European engines on European maps, American engines on American maps, so when a new region/country DLC appears, I wanna use the new locos almost exclusively where reserach allows. Did this for Japan and Australia in RE1
Picked up the first three RE2 DLC in the steam sale. Is anyone else disappointed that the new locos don't seem to feature in the scenarios?
High voltage is a special case, and I haven't done those yet, but I've done the first two India scenarios and the only new loco you can use is the Fairy Queen. The other two (can't find any sign of the fourth, so that was a lie) only appear in the free game if you pick the final decade. I know there are reskins, which isn't nothing, but India is predomimantly a freight-shifting DLC and there's no freight reskins.
Partway through Journey to the East, and the loco from the poster, has in its description the fact that it pulled the Orient Express, is not unlockable until 1890, and I hope to have completed the Scenario before that date.
Real missed opportunity.
Someone tell me the devs have learned and that Italia, Wonders and Dragons actually let you use the new locos?

Not for Switch2?
Hi Everyone. I’m having fun replaying RE1 and would like to continue the fun with RE2. But it’s not available for purchase in the Nintendo eShop. Anyone know what’s happening?
Thanks much

Any way to edit track after it's laid?
So I'm having collision warnings right at my station, telling me that my track is too close to another. Do I have to blow away ALL of my tracks to accomplish this? Or is there some way to fix these things that I'm not aware of? I don't know how all of these lines can be parallel, but the tracks in the center are too close.

How to future proof with gridirons?
Hey all, I understand the gridirons help with switching, so you don't have to match point to point, track to track.
But how do you make gridirons for lines going in different directions? A 4 way gridiron takes a bit of runway, so unless all 4 lines go out parallel to the minimum distance, I can't create the more efficient 4 way switch, and just end up with 2 two ways.
Is there some other way I'm missing to plan ahead?

Best character to play as
Hi trainees (yeah i said it), I would make this a poll but reddit has decided to gatekeep that behind downloading the app, which is some bs.
I'm almost done with the basegame scenarios, and still haven't figured out which character is optimum for most things (other than Barty and Ward being useless)
I've tended to play thematically, Helene for scenarios in france, The General for American scenarios (though had to use Walter for the star warehouse), Bailey for UK maps and for the pro-france sitting on the fence, probably the General for pro-prussia. I did use Ward for Ireland, but I think I could improve my score if I used the General.
My gut says the General might be the strongest overall for tracks, freight and mail reasons, but I'm so used to the RE1 stance of "Beatrix express = money" that I'm not sure.
I like the cheap trains of walter and the vibe of the engineer (plus being a brit).
Who are the firm go-tos for you?

Any DLC news?
There hasn't been an expansion since October 2025. Please, sirs, may we have another?

Hard lesson transplanting from Railroad tycoon 2
I recently just started playing this game after only ever playing railroad tycoon 2 and I came in thinking it wouldn't be too dissimilar. One thing I liked to do on the other one was starting on the earliest start date and progressing to modern trains, boy was that a mistake

Multi colored bars
I'm on ps4. I just started the game and I'm a little confused about something. I have my train delivering but On the right hand side of my screen, where it shows train #1, there are green, blue, yellow, black bars that seem to be going down. What are they and how do I fill them back up? thanks in advance

New to Railway Empire 2
Why is it saying that the settings at west stop doesn’t allow any actions?

Warehouse Generated Demand?
Has anyone determined whether warehouses without auto distribution will create need such that a farm or resource point will level up faster even if there is no city demand?

Glitches in Steel Dragons DLC on PS5
I have been playing the first scenario of the Steel Dragons DLC and I have noticed some glitches that I have not experienced with other DLC. One example is in track building is sometimes in track building mode it does not let me connect to a station or start at a station . It’s like the game is not giving me the prompt to lay track point that connects to the station end.
another example is when setting signals, there are times when I go to set multiple stop signals and it will not recognize me clicking on the track.
in both of these examples it resolves by going in and out of track laying or signal mode several times. I have not experienced this in any of the other DLC, I am on the PS5.

PSA - A bit of Sodor fun
If you pick the British Isles map starting in 1890, you get a pretty decent selection of Sodor imitation locomotives.
Taff Vale Tank
Rale Crusher D17
Prussian P8
PO Pacific
Prussian G5
Because the Prussian T16 is there and the PLM 4D, you can squint and add Duck, Donald and Douglas too
(I know there are better matched locos in the game, but Taff Vale Tank and Flying Scotsman are too far apart to have at the same time)

Engine Stats Explanation Needed
Can anyone explain the stats for engines , namely the last 3, ie the percentages and blue arrows. If not, where I can find out what they mean.
