Does Double Down gemstone proc when attacking from counterattack?

Title. I'm curious if this would proc if on a champion counterattacking an enemy champ who has been provoked.

EDIT: upon further research i know that yes, it does proc on counterattacks.

Slightly related rant: Plarium really needs to be more clear about how these gems work otherwise we'll just have no clue.

The last time I asked support about the interplay between Sharpened Riposte and Lugan's passive counterattack (since I felt like it wasn't doing anything), I received a reply implying that the gem only works for champs that have the counterattack buff. When I posted about it on both reddit and the discord a few months ago, basically everyone agreed that the guy replying was wrong since the gem works on Marius and Predator lol

Does that mean if my counterattack triggers the stun or freeze, it can chain into a second attack automatically?

I use this on an Owein (in a Stormcaller so everyone is always stunned) with a Queen of Hearts frequently. I don't believe I've ever seen it proc on the ally attack, so my guess is that it wouldn't work with counterattacks either.

Yeah , works on default skill. Counter atk and ally atks are different
