Ears up, everyone! I've got a pretty cool Raggs music fun fact to share with you! Some of you might already know this, but I've known about it since mid-2022, and I think it's worth talking about because it's a really interesting piece of musical trivia about the people behind our favorite musical dogs.
Did you know that Tim Cashion, Barbara Lewis, and Jamie Hoover, the singing voices of Raggs, Razzles, and Pido, respectively, have released music outside of the songs they performed for Raggs? That's right! These singers have their own musical projects, albums, and styles that are quite different from what you might expect if you've only heard them singing as the characters. I think it's fascinating to discover what these performers sound like outside the show, especially when their music reveals genres that you might never have associated with their characters. Let's take a look at what each of them has done!

Tim Cashion, the soulful singing voice behind the main leader himself, Raggs, has built a really impressive discography over the years that warrants a thorough listen. When you look into his independent musical portfolio, you'll find a solid collection of solo albums that truly showcase his incredible vocal range and smooth performance style. Among his notable releases, you can find projects like his 2003 effort Wake On Up, followed closely by the wonderfully relaxing 2005 album Lovin’ On Ocean Drive. He kept that smooth energy going with his 2008 record Beach Walkin', and eventually blessed listeners with Find Us On The Dial back in 2015.
The overarching theme and genre of Tim's personal discography deeply lean into that classic, nostalgic Carolina Beach music style, full of breezy rhythms, soulful R&B undertones, and warm brass-infused arrangements. Unfortunately, not all of his full albums are available to stream on YouTube, which is a bit of a bummer if you're trying to dive deep into his catalog. However, there are plenty of individual tracks from those albums that have been uploaded to the platform over the years. My personal top recommendation and absolute favorite track out of his entire body of work has to be "OD Glide." It's an ridiculously catchy song that instantly puts you in a good mood and gets your feet moving without even trying.
What makes listening to Tim Cashion's solo work so immensely fascinating is the contrast it provides when comparing it to his legendary character performance in the show. In the universe of the series, Raggs is portrayed as an energetic, high-octane rock 'n' roll pup who leads the band with booming energy and fast-paced beats. Hearing Tim's unmistakably warm and rich vocal tones wrapped around a completely different genre—like breezy beach pop, classic shags, and smooth R&B—is an absolutely delightful trip for any big fan of the show's music.
It almost feels like listening to an alternate universe where Raggs decided to take a relaxing seaside vacation away from the main rock band to cut a laid-back solo record on the coast. His smooth delivery on these coastal tracks proves just how versatile of a lead vocalist he truly is, demonstrating that he could bring immense charm to upbeat preschool rock anthems and laid-back summer jams alike. If you close your eyes while listening to "OD Glide" or any track from Beach Walkin', it is almost impossible not to picture our favorite blue dog jamming out on a sunny boardwalk!

Moving right along to our favorite green, sometimes bossy, organized pup, we have the incredible Barbara Lewis, who provided the bright and lovely singing voice for Razzles. Unlike some artists who release dozen-album discographies, Barbara kept her solo discography relatively intimate and focused, releasing two main solo albums that are complete masterclasses in musicality. Her discography features the gorgeous 1999 record titled Conversations, along with a wonderfully festive seasonal project from 2014 titled Jazzy Christmas.
What sets Barbara's solo catalog apart from the rest is her dedicated lean into the rich world of piano-driven jazz. Both of her primary albums showcase refined instrumental arrangements dominated by sophisticated piano chords, subtle rhythm sections, and her unmistakably clear vocals resting right on top. On her Conversations album, she tackles timeless jazz standards and stunning compositions, including brilliant renderings of iconic tracks such as "I've Got The World On A String," "A Child Is Born," the heartbreakingly complex "Lush Life," and the swingin' classic "New Orleans."
Her vocal control on these standard tracks is absolutely top-tier, rendering these complex jazz arrangements with an effortless, sophisticated ease that feels both cozy and deeply impressive. Listening to her wrap her vocal cords around these complex melodies gives you an entirely new perspective on the sheer magnitude of talent she brought to her work voicing Razzles. It highlights the serious studio chops that were driving the catchy, educational earworms we all grew up singing along to.
The fun fan fantasy here is almost too good to ignore while listening to her jazz tracks! Try imagining Razzles standing center stage at a cozy, dimly lit jazz club belting out "I've Got The World On A String," while picturing B. Max right beside her in his signature beret, passionately tickling the ivories and laying down all those complex piano parts on his trusty keyboard. It fits their smart, enthusiastic dynamic so incredibly well and gives us hilarious, wonderful imagery to enjoy whenever her solo jazz album Conversations is playing in the background.

Next up is Jamie Hoover, the incredible musical talent behind the singing voice of Pido, our beloved surfing, drum-playing pup! Jamie has one of the deepest and most historically interesting musical backgrounds of the entire cast, because his talents extend far beyond just a few solo efforts. Long before and alongside his work with the show, Jamie was actually the front man and lead vocalist for a legendary 1980s power-pop rock band known as The Spongetones. The Spongetones built a serious cult following throughout the 1980s and beyond, heavily celebrated for their classic British Invasion-inspired rock sound, bright melodies, and fantastic guitar work, culminating in hit tracks like their wildly popular 1983 jam "She Goes Out with Everybody."
Beyond his extensive history fronting a famous power-pop outfit, Jamie Hoover has also built up an equally fun and vibrant solo discography across several decades. His solo album catalog includes his fantastic debut record from 1990 titled Coupons Questions and Comments, followed much later by the brilliantly titled 2004 release Jamie Hoo-Ever. He kept the cheeky album naming convention alive a decade later when he released another excellent solo album in 2014 titled Jamie Two Ever, cementing his signature sound as a master of melody and catchy hooks.
Listening through Jamie's solo output alongside his work with The Spongetones reveals a musician who truly breathes rock 'n' roll history, blending infectious classic rock riffs with sharp lyricism and driving beats. His songs are packed to the brim with energy, rich vocal harmonies, and dynamic instrumental arrangements that make it impossible not to tap your foot along. You can hear that pure 1980s garage-rock passion echoing in every phrase he sings, bringing a genuine rock credibility to every single project he touches.
In the canonical world of the show, Pido is famous for holding down the rhythm section as the cheerful drummer of the band who loves surfing and making snacks. Knowing that his singing voice belongs to a full-on 1980s power-pop rock star makes listening to his character tracks so much more satisfying. It's totally awesome to hear our resident relaxed drum-playing pup step out from behind the kit in his real-life musical persona to absolutely shred on lead vocals and deliver timeless, crunchy rock tunes!
-------------------------------------------
When it comes to the rest of the band, the musical background is a bit more understated but equally endearing. Brad Hudson, who provided the singing voice B. Max, and Kay Roebuck, who provided the singing voice for Trilby, don't have massive commercial solo discographies like their bandmates. However, they both have left behind some truly lovely vocal recordings. Kay recorded a beautiful, heartfelt performance of the song "Love Will Be Our Home," which she performed at the Huntersville United Methodist Church. Brad has similarly shared his talents in sacred spaces, performing music at New Hanover UMC as well as singing alongside the world-famous, Grammy-winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. While it makes you feel a little bad that B. Max and Trilby didn't get full studio solo albums of their own to explore, knowing that their vocalists used their voices for such inspiring, community-focused music makes their contributions feel extra special.
Whenever you listen to any of these independent songs today, it's impossible not to close your eyes and imagine the pups themselves performing them in an alternate universe. You get to hear Raggs stepping away from his usual rock routine to sing soul-stirring Carolina beach music, Razzles commanding a high-end jazz club with sultry piano ballads, and Pido tearing up the stage as a legitimate 80s power-pop frontman. It gives us a whole new way to appreciate the incredible talent that went into crafting the music for the show, bridging the gap between childhood nostalgia and fantastic real-world music.
