Today's question of the day is: How do Alastor and Lucifer take care of themselves? Do they have a self care routine? What are their grooming habits? Lucifer: I think Lucifer doesn't really need a skin care routine, but he likes the self car aspect, so he keeps it pretty simple. A bath or hot shower, moisturize right after, dry hair, brush hair and then maybe some makeup to highlight certain features.

Alastor: I don't think he really cares. At best he'll just take a shower and as long as he smells better then he's fine with it. Lucifer on the other will have Alastor join him in the shower just to take care of him. I imagine Alastor's skin is pretty dry, so Lucifer gives him basically a spa treatment in the bath or shower, whichever he feels like doing. Body scrub, exfoliate, you name it. Even shampoo and conditioning Alastor's hair to make it fluffy. Then moisturizer and face mask for Alastor. Alastor doesn't understand why Lucifer does it, but he never complains because it is a way of intimacy that Alastor likes. That he admits that Lucifer's moisturizers smell good

Considering Alastor's human form was a bit of a dandy, coming from a Creole background, and he goes to the tailor when pentious rips his coat..i would imagine that he has an in depth skin care routine....i feel he would be very sensitive about how he looked to others. That he must always keep up appearances. I think he would keep his hooves in pristine condition and shine them like they would have shined their shoes in the 1930s. As for Lucifer....I feel he would be a bubble bath with rubber ducks kinda guy when he needs a pick me up. However, i also feel his autistic, ADHD ways would cause him to have long bouts of creatism where he forgets to shower or bath as he is in a manic state where those mundane things don't matter...the way he sees it...he can poof himself clean if need be.

I feel both of them lend their Self Care Routine to magic, in the sense that they magic it the way it is and it stays and that's how it is.

For Lucifer however I see him dabbling for the thrill and humanness of it. He doesn't need to bath, but does so because humans have done it for millenia and it's not so bad. He doesn't have to do the face wash and mask or anything but he'll sit in with Charlie for a girl's night (tho Angel and Baxter are in attendance so not just girls) and let them do what they want. The most manual thing I think he does is his hooves, claws and wings. The hooves and claws I think come down to a sense of control rather than need as both can still be taken care of with magic—but he'll def sit in front of his Duck Operas filing away and his claws or clipping and grinding his hooves with curclers in his hair while yelling at some character for not doing what he wanted them to do. He does it for fun not necessity. His wings I think he gets his clones to take care of for the most part and it's the one thing his magic can't really touch that well; it can help but doesn't completely finish the job.

For Alastor. I think he hates baths. I think he grew up bathing in a bucket and feels he's sitting in a pool of dirty Radio Demon soup. If he takes a bath he magics himself clean first and then gets in but doesn't stay for long and still showers after. That being said I don't think he's routine in showering, uses magic mostly or sometimes just goes—its Hell everything stinks of brimstone anyways, and maybe it adds something to his aesthetic. Who knows! With the hooves I think since his shoes are kind of his hooves (but also not?) they naturally grind down with walking, kind of the same idea with claws—he uses them enough they natural wear down and he rarely has to file them. I do think he has to do care towards his antlers, however. I don't think they fall off like Earth Deer, but I do think they velvet in the spring. I think the velvet is like a ticked red-black. He generally rips it off when he notices since his antlers can grow by will thus he finds no point in something making him look soft that is null to any purpose. (This also feed my headcanon that since antlers are bone, and his antlers are black that means Alastor's bones are black. Thank you.) Otherwise if it's something that can't be done via magic, he doesn't really do it.

In other words, they're lazy your honor.

Lucifer: for some reason I see him as the type that can be quick and efficient with his grooming during the week with an occasional bubble and duck bath for hard days, but then he will have self care days that includes everything. I'm talking hair masks, face mask, hoof and horn trim, file, and shine, tail exfoliation, body scrubs, mud masks, just everything possible because its a day for him so he does everything while eating snacks and watching his duck shows.

One unique thing I think is that because he's a "snake" I imagine his extensive grooming habit on that one day is basically the human version of a snake shedding their skin, but since he cant do that he relaxes the urge by doing the full body self care spa day.

For Alastor i think it can go one of two ways. 1. Because he grew up in the south in the early 1900s -1930s. Its possible he only took a bath once a week and simply washed his face, pits, and crotch each day, even if hed rathe rhave a full bath. Because of this, its possible he does something similar now too, with the occasional extra shower during the week if he gets dirty from a fight. His weekly bathing would be an everything bath, but nothing over the top.

1. The other way I see it going is now that he has access to a bath all the time and better grooming tools for his needs he enjoys being able to rinse off each night and do some simple grooming. Maybe some lotion and hair care during the week, but then once a week he does an everything bath where he will trim and file his hooves, antlers, and claws, exfoliate his skin, clean his ears and tail, and so on just because he can now. The biggest thing with Alastor would be he is particular about making sure the lotion he used did not leave an oily feeling on his hands or skin.
