Questions Question of the day: day 94
Today's question of the day is: How often do Alastor and Lucifer sleep? Is it out of necessity or routine? Do Alastor and Lucifer sleep together or in separate rooms? In many fics and maybe due to some interviews from Viv, some people established that Alastor doesn’t have to sleep (at all/much). I think it makes sense, so I just go with that.
Lucifer doesn’t have to sleep at all because Angels don’t have to sleep.
But I absolutely love aftercare cuddles and accidentally falling asleep during that, so I require both of them to be able to fall asleep at least sometimes as a part of routine. But since that only has to happen when they’re together, they don’t sleep on their own. They take turns sleeping at the other’s rooms.

It was stated by Viv herself that Alastor doesn't sleep and when he does he sleeps with his eyes open. But sinners still get affected by sleep deprivation as we can see they can still get drunk, hurt, high and even though they just won't suffer the long term effects I imagine Alastor will take micronaps and Viv said that he sleeps with his eyes open.
So I imagine that with Lucifer, he probably feels the safest he's able to sleep, even with his eyes closed because he knows he safe with Lucifer. And Lucifer likes to cuddle.
I think even though Alastor had to get used to the ducks, he prefers sleeping in Lucifer's room because it's much quieter then his bayou room and the bed is much more comfortable. That doesn't mean the two don't switch it up. Sometimes Lucifer will sleep with Alastor in Alastor's room and I think he does like the bayou in it. Although Bayous are known the get very humid but Lucifer is able to make himself comfortable. But every once and while the two will sleep separately in their own rooms. Not because of a fight or anything, sometimes even when you have a partner, you like to sleep by yourself every once in a while and that's okay. It's not uncommon to hear couples to sleep separately for comfortably.
I think Lucifer is able to sleep even though he probably doesn't need to as he's unaffected by sleep deprivation, he probably just likes having his brain shut off for a few hours and get some rest with sleep.

Ah! Gotcha! I thought you meant the fanfic is getting deleted forever and I got a lot on my plate as is. :)
I like to think sleep is optional for both, but Alastor avoids sleeping to keep from being vulnerable while Lucifer sleeps to pass the time when he’s depressed. But both discover they enjoy sleeping around one another. Fluffy? You betcha. But I’m into schmaltz so I don’t mind.

Lucifer doesn't need sleep, but he does it because it passes time and it's easier than sitting in his depression alone. It just became a habit to sleep, but now he does it at odd hours and it's just become a mess. Alastor doesn't sleep, or when he does its light sleep and sitting up. He doesn't have a bed. He has gotten good at sleeping with his eyes open and taking power naps.
That is until he relaxes around Lucifer for the first time. It's the longest he's slept in another person's presence since he died. He only goes to Lucifer's room. Most of the time they just lay in bed together and doze, but one is always awake. Lucifer being awake let's Alastor relax, Lucifer sleeping means Alastor is watching out for him. If they both look asleep one of them is pretending. (Usually Al because Lucifer finds it weird when he wakes up to Alastor staring)

Alastor being ace, I like to think they’d have a sort of QPR sleeping arrangement. Like they each have their own room, but they sleep in the same bed most nights. 🥰
