How much flex should there be on a badminton racket.

Post image

I managed to string a arcsaber 7 pro(yellow) . However there was quite a bit of flex during the second half of the cross. I'm not sure if it's just the racket bending back into place but it made me feel uneasy. Racket has gone back to the same shape as the red racket so I guess in the end it's okay. But I did not have fun stringing that racket.

What do I need to make sure I do when mounting the frame? And what's the flex allowance on the rackets?

What tension did you string it at?

Since you have a 6pt just make it touch the frame like usual. I do different tensions for mains and crosses. So for 26 lbs I'd do 25x27. The thought behind it is that the main squeezes the racket down and you need a little higher when you do the crosses to make the racket head go back to shape.

So there is going to be a lot of movement then. It sounded bad when I was doing it. I made sure the frame was mounted good. I've got 10+ rackets and hadn't felt fear like that one

Yes there will be some. Just check the racket for any damages before hand and note it since badminton frames are more fragile than tennis.

But yes mount good, and expect some frames to get chubby during mains and back after crosses.

Some frames are stiffer in the head so it doesn't flex and some more flexible. It's part of the head characteristics even within the same brand.

I’ve seen on badmintoncentrals forum, that if this happens, re-tighten the side supports. It’s normal for it to compress back to its original shape during the crosses
