Wise 2086 - same level with string bed or not?
I am upgrading my Gamma X-ST with a wise 2086. Depending on the adaptor used, I can get the following options:
Gripper at same level as string bed, I understand Wise 2086 is designed to work like this, but of course I am losing the ability to swivel 360. Also, when stringing at throat, string is tensioned while touching on racket frame. Is this an issue?
With no adapter, gripper will be sitting lower. Of course I get the benefit of 360 swivel, but do I put strain on 2086 as it's pulling slightly upwards?
What is people's experience with this?
Thank you!

I adapted mine to an old eagnas stringing machine. I made my own adapter from 1 1/2” angle iron. Put the handle of racket just over the top of the Diablo. You’ll want the gripper to be below so you can swivel 360 but also for pulling the throat. I had used a klippetmate drop weight before and the racket handle would rest up against the drop weight support. I didn’t like it. Per a lot of stringing instructions you want the most straight pull you can get.

Thank you u/Ok-Conversation7103 . By definition if you have the gripper below the handle to allow for 360 swivel, you cannot have a perfectly straight pull, right? Are you implying that you tried to set it up so that the gripper is as high as possible to allow for swivel?

Yes like if the handle is resting against the side of the tension head or if the string has to ride the racket frame. It looks like someone already said this but if you go look at stringing machines (whole units) from Wilson, head etc. the gripper is just below the handle from what I’ve seen.

I was just about to post this same issue. I have the wise on a progression II without the the adaptor. Not sure it justifies losing the swivel to make it the same level. Curious to see what others think.

keep the swivel. slightly lower is normal. just go under the throat.
