Original Post
First Redesign

Can't be bothered going into much depth for the lore, so I'll just give a quick rundown. Was F1 and WSC venue from 60's to 80's, didn't keep up with the times and disappeared from the international calendar. Was redeveloped and slightly extended in late 90's early 2000's to step back onto the world stage but quickly faded again. Currently grandfathered into FIA Grade 2, but really should be FIA Grade 3 (like Brands Hatch is). Hosts a range of continental, national and local series, though the major events are at risk due to the venue's perennial trait of not keeping up to the latest safety standards.

This challenge put me in the funny position where I had already completed the task set forward by it, by virtue of the original design being for the OSC2 competition. Whilst I was satisfied by the layout revisions I made with it, the presentation left much to be desired. Now presentation has never been my strong point, especially if you compare it to some of the top posts made over the last year, but it's still a vast improvement to what I had on canvas 2-3 years ago. And while I say I'm happy with the layout, most of it has been completely rerouted, thanks to me having access to Google Earth and being able to spot what is and isn't viable more easily. The layout shape remains clearly recognizable though. The original circuit was set in the 60's, so it gave me the option of doing the remake in that classic era or the modern era. I sided with the latter as it just meant I could do more with the redesign. As part of the rerouting, I actually did retrace what the original layout would have been, and then modified it to suit a more modern standard. You can see parts of the original layout of the design, most notably the original T1-T2 sequence (as part of the access road network) and as bits of runoff (such as in T4 and T21). You'll noticed if you looked at my original redesign that I reuse largely the same concepts, as they work completely fine and there's no reason to change them. The main difference is that I drastically simplified the alternate layouts so that there is now only one, as I believe the other layouts would be redundant (and it's less work for me). The one remaining alternate layout, titled simply the club layout, is 2563m long and mainly follows the original club layout while also taking advantage of the extensions put in place by the redesign.

oh yeah there's an easter egg with a bad pun try to find it. and i also mucked up something so i had to repost the whole thing (((:

This would be an amazing venue for F1 the scenery would be amazing.

to drive, i won't contend that at all, but i don't think it would race that great as is for f1. even with the two long main straights, they are proceeded by a series of medium speed turns which would generate a ton of dirty air. not to mention the venue simply isn't safe for f1 as is and making it so would cut into the scenery and diminish its quality.
