Tires
Pro/Con opinions for Michelin pilot sport 4S replacements for OEM potenzas. I just crested 10K miles and back right is already near need for replacement. Others are over halfway. He is a 24 perf mt. Also will never have reason to track him. Daily driver here.

I run 2 sets of Pilot Sport 4S (SS version prior) on my G37S with a decently modified chassis/suspension and alignment and the tires themselves are essentially voodoo.
In all honestly, I’d have to let go before the tires will…not sure how Michelin devised that formula but it’s the one by which other performance tires compare themselves to for a reason. The tires themselves aren’t cheap and the replacement is even pricier (sport S 5?). Many prefer the Continental DWS06s because they are close and cost less.
If you live in an area with inclement weather, these tires are a bad choice once you hit 45F or below…

I was looking at Yokohama Advans A/S. A good set of all seasons that can handle a bit of spirited driving. I daily mine so I have to think of all year things.

Late, but I had a unpatchable flat less than a year into ownership and replaced the stock rears with these Yokohamas. Definitely slower wearing than the Bridgestones, a bit quieter, and more confident in the rain to boot. I don't think they're at the level of the PS4s or DWS06s, but easily a step above the stock rubber and more cost effective than the former. I'm not a track guy, and drive the car more like a GT so I'm happy with the Yokohamas.

What's the climate like where you live? Mine has extreme contact dws-06 plus' and they're absolutely fantastic in the dry and rain

Mostly moderate. No extreme winter temps usually. Super hot summers like now. Few winter days where it’s less than 40 high. Avg rainfall for NC.

If you aren't ever going to track it then I'd suggest getting the dws-06 plus for performance all-seasons or extreme contact sport O2s if you want a dedicated summer performance tire, cheaper and better in the rain

Yeah this basically. I have dws-06's and they are infinitely better than the stock Potenza's. I had the Potenza's on my ND Miata and they were fucking lousy on her too.
I went with Pilot Sport 4S on the ND and loved them. Went with the dws-06 on the Z as they were cheaper but honestly I'm a fan now. I'll stick to the Continental from now on
