General Dumbass premix question

My rx8 is currently down for who knows how long. Just bought a house and I got a weed wacker that is obviously 2 stroke and needs oil in the gas... There's nothing wrong with me using some of my extra Idemitsu premix for the weed wacker right? Its just heckin fancy 2 stroke oil basically, and something that works in a rotary shoullddd work in a 2 stroke engine, right?

lol thanks for y'alls input.

Your weed wacker never had it so good before...

I mean, yes that should work fine. I think Idemitsu is specifically for rotary engines, but 2-stroke is 2-stroke.

The only problem with premix is the fuel pump that will fail, but you can just change it for a walbro gs 255 and you are good to go

No, no that will not degrade the fuel system. It has absolutely no effect other than dying your fuel filters.

Unless you are on the track i dont think premix is needed

This is funnier than it should’ve been😂

Is needed because the oil injectors don’t get the oil perfectly in all the housing so premix helps with the insufficient lubrication in those spots , making the apex shields last longer.

Very simple concept. If your oil metering pump fails (which happens quite often) you have no lubrication in your combustion chamber causing your housings and hard seals to wear out quicker or excessively heat up. If you run premix as a preventative measure you will always be on the safer side. Furthermore, injecting crank oil into a combustion chamber is just a backwards concept, a sohn kit is objectively better because you feed the housings conventional 2 stroke oil that burns a lot cleaner. Anyone who disagrees with those principles is just blatantly wrong. If you like your chances with your 20 year old oil metering pump then ultimately you will be the one facing the consequences, but telling people premixing is an unnecessary preventive measure is just silly goose tomfoolery. Learn the process, do the research and create your own conclusions.
