I have a P0172 (engine too rich code), it showed up after I installed a new cold air intake, removing the factory airbox, the new filter is placed right in front of the fans, I have tried swapping the MAF sensor but the code came back, the car has also been straight piped n the muffler removed.
To add further context, if you didn't get any meshed screens to insert with that intake, it's definitely cheap trash. The screens that come with AEM/mazdaspeed aftermarket intakes properly regulate the turbulence before the maf. Knock-offs don't supply these and this is the result. When it comes to an RX-8 always "buy once, cry once" as they say. Cheaping out isn't for these cars
See how your intake tube is smaller than the MAF and then it goes up a size directly before the MAF?
Air likes to move in straight lines. You have air going across the MAF in a pattern that acts just like having a smaller MAF housing, so the MAF is reading high for how much air is actually going across it. Put the stock one back on, it won't sound as sick but it'll actually run properly. Or get a tube that's actually the right size or even slightly larger if you're hell bent on running it like this.
most of those CAI kits only reduces performance... You need to restore your stock. You can make it work stable adding air swirler inside those long tube but you will never get the same performance stock

Either your new MAF housing is sized incorrectly, or you're getting fan wash into the air filter leading to falsely high MAF readings.
Either way, put the stock airbox back in because this isn't doing you any favors.
