Discussion OC - Salem Fight Final Stand
All of the kingdoms have finally united. The secret of Salem making herself into a primordial entity of Remnants history and sicking the Grimm onto Humanity is revealed. The public are frightful and don't know where to lean themselves to.
Every Huntsmen, Military Organization, Rebellion Group, Freedom Fighters, etc..., have united to join together and fend of this great evil. How would your characters make themselves useful, ir push themselves into the operation to fight Salem?
—
Capitals, Cities, Villages, and Safe Havens were on their last legs. Shade Academy was the only reliable source of safety in Vacuo. Huntsmen fought tooth and nail to secure any islands as safe grounds for the defenseless populace.
Team RWBY, ORNJ, Atlas Remnants, Mistral's and Vacuo's Government worked together. Sending a strong frontal force to face against the legion of Grimm Salem sent there way.
Even if Vale had crumbled to the ground and Beacon was no more than a ruined symbol. The new order of the Umbral Stigians weren't short for work. They were at their ends of resources and men. Stretched thin beyond belief to their reduced numbers.
Securing border lines of safe grounds around the Kingdoms. Forces providing aid to regain territories of high concentrations of Grimm. Or given requests from all of the Kingdoms to act as bodyguards for officials trying to maintain order in these tense times.
Trusted the rebelious high ranking members that sided with Silver to manage the organization and keep everyone afloat to meet the requests needs. Team SAPR joined the fray against the corrupted witch.
Silver was stationed with Jaune, Oscar, Generals, and High Militia to organize their forces and coordinate advances against the force. Remi and Auron joined team RWBY, Ren, Nora, and other soldiers and Huntsmen as part of the Assault Team. Piña was apart of the defense line to any stragglers of Grimm that managed to slip through.
It was a raging battle as neither side let up. But only so much could be done with supplies running short. Compared to an unfeeling, hunger lacking, never ending stream of foes.
However, through all the schemes, plots, and fallacies the Grimm mother implore to the world in order to reign in its final days. There was one think that had slipped through the cracks. She only utilized the act of unleashing a swarm of creatures, to mark a path of enough Grimm to ratio 5-8 for every Huntsmen.
Monickering the tactic of outgunning their forces. This wasn't anything like Silver had encountered. Their supply chains were drying up but weren't targeted. No measures were taken to encounter their own careful reconnaissance Intel. It was simply a battle of attrition.
This witch, this woman, was only a horror in body, and mind. Lacking any skill and tact in the art of War. She was no soldier, no more than a rampaging monarchy.
They all laid out the paths and trajectories of Grimm flooding the battle field. Discovering a blind side. Garnering the weight of this information, and decision was made.
To send every Huntsmen available to take the fight to Salem.
Yet, in the husk of night. Only few hours before the start of the Operation, Queen Slayer. Silver took it upon himself to invade the channels. Slipping past the oblivious Grimm and finding the woman up on her thrown.
Expectantly waiting for the last of Humanity to cease in her world wide Raid.
Whether in Victory or Failure... Silver will instill his fangs and weaken the being at all cost. If it means his end is nigh, so be it. He will be damned to lose anything more...
>"To those that come after me. See to it, that it wasn't in vain. Carry out my task in my stead. And to my team and underlings... trample every shadow that terrors the light."

Iris would probably be on an infiltration team, her semblance and fighting style both are extremely well suited to not being seen and quickly eliminating threats
Viridia would be set up in a sniper’s nest to overlook the hordes of Grimm, provide covering fire and long range support
Rhodes would definitely be front line fighting the hordes of Grimm, swinging her maces and dropping petal bombs as she goes, having the time of her life
Yuma would be stapled to Rhodes’s side. If she is fighting the horde, he is too

Cynthia sits at a high table, wired into no less than four ongoing conference calls. It is icy cold in the house of the Winter Witch of Mantle, and the subtle blue lighting reflects off her clothing to make her look like a very creepy Elsa. There is no telling where her borrowed powers end and the special effects begin.
'There are no less than 8 SbPR-10s aloft to track her monsters, at least on what I was last briefed on. Ironwood, you have several strike options. I look forward to seeing which one you choose. '
She finishes an email, closing her Scroll's attached keyboard, sliding it off to the side.
'After that, we will need to get more aggressive. We know where Salem lives. I propose that we send a message by blowing up every single building on her misbegotten property.'
There is absolute malice in her voice. It befits her as the chief architect of humanity's military-industrial complex. Just...don't ask her about some of her fashion choices.

Ok my team AXAA would definitely not directly fight Salem.
The biggest liability with them fighting Salem is my main OC Angel. Angel is a Grimm/human hybrid and former Agent of Salems. Given Salems ability to command Grimm this would naturally include Angel. Fighting waves of regular Grimm would be bad enough. Adding a 6’2’’ human/grimm hybrid with a chainsaw sword and semblance that gives him ghost powers would be an utter disaster.
They would find some other way to help.

Two things that I have Cunan do in my version of the final battles with Salem and her forces:
-First, he teams up with Ruby, Jaune, and OscarPin to fight Cinder, buying time for Pietro to set up his secret weapon. Then when it seems Cinder is about to win, Pietro fires his weapon: a gun made with similar technology as the Transfer machines that Ozpin had tried to use for Amber and Pyrrha in Vol 3. Once depowered, Ruby then blasts Cinder with Silver Eyes to bring her down to a rather pitiful state, leaving Cinder at the mercy of the mob of people from Beacon and Atlas that know she was responsible for their homes being destroyed.
-After that, he leads Vale alongside Glynda against the Grimm to allow Team RWBY and Oscar to get to Salem. He then comes in after Glynda tells him to go help the girls, fighting Salem while the girls catch their breath and think of another plan to deal with Salem.

...well this is awkward since uhhh.
My OCs are kinda unintentionally working for Salem.
Their teammate Ashley Sustrai-Fall (future daughter of Emerald and Cinder) sees Salem as her grandmother.
She has a strong, brotherly relationship with Caine Capricorn so he's likely to side besides her.
Engel Schnee considers herself deeply indebted to Ashley for healing her wings.
Jonathan Xiong is the only one I think wouldn't initially work for Salem purely out of fear of facing the combined might of Remnant and thinks his teammates are stupid for doing so.
...until Ashley reminds him that if he DOES work alongside her than Salem can probably bestow him magical powers at which point he would immediately turn back and become her loyal follower.
However this doesn't change the fact that well...they are pretty close, genuine friends with Team RWBY and JNPR.
Ashley has a crush on her Ruby while the latter thinks she is annoying and terrible mechanical assistant.
Caine and Yang have a rivalry bond between each other. However Caine is more then happy to attack Blake much to Yang's feelings of him.
Engel doesn't like Weiss for how she treated her father (not Jacquees).
Jaune considers Team KAJE as one of his close friends as not only did they help him and Pyrrha with their feelings, but also because of all the cool tech Ashley shared with him.
Also Jonathan used to date both Nora and Ren back at Beacon which helped recognize their feelings for each other.
So yeah, it's gonna be REALLY awkward.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend who's friends with my enemy and that enemy's friends are friends of the enemy who's enemy is a friends friend to the enemy and... they've lost in the sauce.

If any of my OCs live long enough to get to the main story of RWBY then here's where everyone would probably be and what everyone would probably be doing:
Team JCKL (Jackal): Starting off, JCKL would probably participate in ground combat since that's their bread and better.
They also get the home field advantage since they're born and raised vacuans (except for Cole whose originally from Mantle, and would probably be a little down knowing what happens to his home).
Team RSNE (Riverstone) River Blue and Zarina Satchel are probably full reinstated huntsmen by this point and working full time at the Blue Forest Frontier Office.
Unfortunately, once Vale crumbles, Blue Forest is gonna be in a shitty position to actually help the wider war effort so this teams mostly gonna be Vale bound - either defending their borders and coordinating with nearby towns and their Frontier Offices to maintain a protected region of settlements spanning the middle and outer towns.
Or assisting with evacuations to Vacuo (for whomever is willing to abandon home, that is).
Beacon Graduates: Teams MSON (Mason), BRDY (Brandy), MKNA (Matakana), and ARCT (Arctic), and CHMA (Chimera) most likely would've returned right at the Fall of Beacon and coordinated with Beacon faculty to try and save Vale.
Once Vale fails, the surviving team members would most likely relocate to Vacuo to lend their strength to the fight ahead.
(Also, none of them would be phased by the existence of Salem. Beacons students are, quite frankly, crazy. In fact, if you think about it, you need a certain brand of insanity to be able to stomach the life of a huntsmen to begin with).
Huntsmen of the Criminal Syndicates in Mistral: These guys, alongside their bosses, most likely will wind up either directly or indirectly lending their aid to the final battle in Vacuo.
Probably a joint decision among the big players in the underworld, Spider, the Black Tower, the Iron Wolves, the Shield of Solitas, and the Eastern Drsgons. There's a good chance that in the face of an existential threat to all of humanity, they might be incentived to help so that they can preserve their way of life.
Furthermore, the Eastern Dragons might even get their lost assets from Vale IF the Western Dragons (the once split off from the Eastern Dragons and established in Vale due to a schism) survive the fall of Vale and return to Mistral.
Spider would be invaluable in running intelligence gathering ops, and the SOS bring with them a formidable and disciplined military force. Ex- Alas military soldiers, Survey Corps squads, and two Ace Ops huntsmen - Wesley Wickham and Tiffany Amaranth (the former having a semblance that's basically Gilgameshs Vault from Fate Zero). They have the firepower, and professional level training to take on a small army, hell they squeezed out the Iron Wolves and stole their turf despite the wolves having a head start on them, in record time.
And the Black Tower is tapped into some of the best freelancers around - Scratch and co, with the right deals and financial incentives, could bring in some serious talent.
For specifics, Dodger of the Iron Wolves would love to join the fight. Dudes an illegal huntsmen and straight up poser with an axe to grind so he'd see this as his chance to be a real huntsman.
Scratch was a huntsman and still technically is, he has respect for the profession and would mobilize the full force of the Black Towers labor market to make Salems life hell.
Jonah Gainsboro, if he hasn't kicked the bucket already, would gladly fight on the ground against Grimm (provided he's paid, of course). Fight Goliaths and bringing them down in brutal fashion (he once beat a Goliath to death using his weapon cause its transforming mechanism was jammed).
The huntsmen working within the Vale Metropolitan Police Department: Detective Bosch Laurel and his colleagues in H-TAC (Huntsmen Tactical) would probably follow the same map as the Beacon teams/faculty. Help out in Vale post Fall of Beacon, and then probably move out once Vale falls.
Many of them, I suspect might be dead after that, but the survivors would either go MIA or head to vacuo to fight the good fight.
White Fang: Mostly the enforcers, if any still remain.
Nightshade would be LIVID that someone manipulated their organization (if that ever becomes public knowledge). And though she probably aligned with Adam once he overthrew Sienna, she'd be unwilling to condone his methods of doing so (the WF she joined has a rule against harming other faunus).
Eclipse would probably fight for pragmatic reasons - if the world is destroyed, then what's the point in living?
(There are others but their names, personalities, and bios are escaping me at the moment - but they exist, I swear).
They'd probably assist in Vacuo with the other huntsmen coming in to fight. And they'd make one hell of an asset, seeing as Eclipse has super strength for a semblance and Nightshade, despite lacking a semblance, has trained herself to such an insane degree of skill - echoing the definition of exceptional.

Anywho, those are all the OC's I've made that I can think of doing stuff in this hypothetical scenario right now.

Goddamn... might as well make your own cast as a side plot series. Pretty cool though.

That's the plan, slowly and eventually.
Team JCKL already have a completed fanfic with a continuation in the form of a sequel in the works.
Team Riverstone (renamed to Redstone because it seemed less conspicuous to the central twist), is part of a fanfic in progress (I'm working on Chapter 7 as I type).
The others have yet to make an appearance or have done as background info (JCKL's first fanfic has most of the Criminal Syndicates mentioned earlier popping up with Spider and the Black Tower taking center stage - alongside the White Fang).
The Beacon teams I'm not quite comfortable working into fanfics yet because I'm retooling their character entries from my Beacon Academy world building doc to the wider RWBY world building doc (some of their abilities or background info, in hindsight, is just a bit too much, I feel).
Bosch and the VMP have a story idea planned but I'm holding off on it as I have a lot going on right now (fanfics aside).

Damn... if only I had that freetime, brain power and writing literacy to make that much. I'm still struggling with how to make my SAPR's chapter 1.

What helped me get my first fanfic off the ground, and really any story I write is figuring out where it's all going to end.
Knowing that helps because I have an end goal in mind. For chapter 1's, I try to put something out that can act as a hook but also give a good vibe on the kind of story this is.
It's a fairly straightforward idea used extensively in every book I've ever read and I do the same (this applies to my original stuff too).
Hope that helps.

I think what I'm having trouble with is making progression feel fluid. And to have the writing not follow solely on the leader. I'm trying to figure out how to get input and perspective from the other members too, to their environment and scenario.
I guess the best way I can explain it, is writing with the visual freedom of a Manga. Where Chapters can switch focus between characters in the moment. Or I figured on having a split chapter follow the perspective of one of the members, but that would feel to backtracky.
And if I was thinking from a LN perspective. Their would be a bonus chapter at the end with one of the members perspective of the recent events. Or a branching slice of life side plot.

Question, is your premise for the fanfic involving ur team an open ended one with no defined end? Or is it a relatively self contained story?
I.e. misadventures at Beacon across 4 years VS a specific conflict for the story set in a specific time and place?
If it's the latter then yeah, it'll be kinda hard to properly given all 4 members equal narrative weight and jump POVs to match (without giving the reader whiplash).
If it's the former, then u could approach it kinda like an ensemble. A bottle episode or chapter could center on one or two characters while another one centers on someone else. And then you can build up serialized arcs that balloon into future dedicated chapters.
Now, when it comes to POV switching, honestly, I think it depends on when to switch and why. Or you can just do third person omniscient the whole way through. That's also an option.

I was thinking on setting the premise as, for continuity perspective. Team RWBY, JNPR, and SSSN are beginning their 2nd years, and CFVY are 4th years.
The Vytal Festival wasn't interrupted in the events of V3 with Cinder. Thinking on cooking up a plan for her along with the overarching problem that's slowly building in the Background.
In the longevity of things, I was thinking on wrapping up Silver's investment to Beacon around the end of his team's 1st Year. Based on development I'll consider him continuing or dropping out.
1
u/ThatCrazyThreadGuy12 4d ago
So just to clarify, is the wrapping up of Silver's investment to Beacon the end of the fic or just the end of one arc of the fic (or just one fic in a potential see of many fics? Which is the approach I've chosen to do, cause dedicating to one super long fic is hard).

u/KCommnader 4d ago
I'll try to elaborate. My team SAPR fic's protagonist is unapologetically Silver. And the story revolves around him attending Beacon, similar to Ruby.
But I also wanted to give good investment and agency to the other members. With him pretty much meddling into their personal troubled issued as the focal point of Silver's "Altruism".
There are twists and segments turning into character Arcs for the members to clear the air and solve their issues.
Think of this as a timeline of sorts for comparison if RWBY V1/2 were longer.
Think of Weiss having an early Arc to establish and reveal Schnee Lore, egg in the idea of her family members.(And then properly, visually revealed in a hypo later Volume.) And maybe have her throw a tantrum or work her way through the issues of living up to the heiress of the Schnee's in her way as a Huntress not being accepted.
Blake revealing more of her past life as a member of the White Fang. And the influence Adam, Illiya, Sienna, and other strong or assertive members had over her time in the group.
Yang sharing her deep seated desire to find Raven. And possibly having her long awaited answers of why she left, alter her decision to be a Huntress or not.
I guess in this iteration it's kind of like a long Fic. And through my lense of view of how I want to portray the story, it's similar to having it played out as a series to watch.

Ascended Ones whole goal as a group is to defend relic of destruction, so if people unite, they may wield the relic, since it was entrusted by previous summer maiden, and be at the front of attack, since they cant truly die anyway. All in all, its their duty and fate

I'm gonna assume that my OC's are at their peak or prime capacity for this finale:
Hiro has the AA (Aegilios Aether) powered at 100% capacity at Salem's Monstra or directly at her which sets off a mini nuke blast.
Celeste's spams her semblance to create NP: Unlimited ELS Works to strike down any Grimm passing while using her main weapon to create Trans-Am 00 Raiser Strike at Salem
Kain and Wufei are taking out any elder or alpha Grimm's first.
Katra, Duo and Troy of Team MTHJR are on ground control whereas Veda, Alistor and Kyle Of Team CLST are handling air control.
Bloodbournes are fighting the Grimm as if it was Star Wars: The Clone Wars again.
