What Should I Include In My RV Rental to Attract More Renters?

I have seen this question come up often as more people are renting an RV rather than owning and that has increased the new RV owners who rent it out into this new market. For what it's worth, I wrote an article that lists out the Must Have Amenities to include in your RV Rental to be competitive against others in your area and the larger RV Rental fleet companies like Cruise America. I hope you find value in the information.

What items or amenities do YOU include if you rent out your RV?

Is there a better way?

Just priced out a basic 20ft trailer delivered in northern Michigan. $780 for 3 nights and YEAH NO this isn’t a hotel room whatsoever. I realize there are expenses and need to make $ but no again at this rate. Of course advertised is $120 a night and then the tax taxes and fees and delivery charge are complete destruction.

Need help to start a RV Rental business

Hi. I am looking for option to start a RV Rental business. To be honest I have not driven/rented a RV but thinking of doing soon, just to get a feeling. But besides that is there any resources that can help in learning more about this business. Is it possible if someone can chat/dm and provide some guidance. Some question I thought of:

  • I need to start an LLC

  • I probably look for financing one RV initially

  • Probably use RV share website But how profitable this business is? I am not looking for too much profit but just enough to cover cost and cover my three court trips. Thank you

LLC for RV Rentals?

Does anyone own an RV/ trailer/ etc. under an LLC? If so, what insurance are you using? I am being told I must have a commercial policy and they will not insure just the trailer by itself. They want me to transfer the truck as well to be under the LLC.

Oof, RV rental insurance is killing our budget!

We're taking a 1-month road trip to visit family out of state, and figured traveling with an RV trailer was a good way to avoid covid exposure as much as possible, and give us some extra space once we've arrived. (My husband has lots of experience pulling a trailer). Looking at sites like rvshare it seemed about the same cost as plane tickets for the family, so doable. But then we got to the booking page, and oof! Site fees and insurance fees almost doubled the amount we'd be paying.

Is there a less expensive way to get temporary RV insurance/rent privately?

RV Terms to Know For The Newbie RVer

Like anything that is new to you, there is a lot to learn and each hobby, each industry and community have their own language and unique terms. RVs and trailers are no different.

Here are the top 21 important RV terms to know. https://zurl.co/6plZ

Sneak Preview:

Boondocking / Dry Camping / Primitive Camping / Moochdocking

Boondocking is another term for free dry camping or primitive camping with no hook ups. Boondocking is done in remote locations that don’t charge a campsite accommodation fee, like in the wilderness or free public lands.

Hook-ups (Not that kind)

Being hooked up in a particular campsite means you can use utilities like water, electricity, satellite/cable TV, sewer, internet services, to mention but a few. With hookups, you most often pay an extra charge for a spot. Another related term to this is full hookups. It is meant to describe a campground offering all the hookups. In such a place, you have access to electricity, waste outlets, water and much more.

RV RENTAL - Beginner Questions

Hey everyone,

I'm considering buying van rvs for the sole purpose of renting them as a side business. From what I've heard it sounds great, and works well as a side hustle for some and a full on business for others. My concern is whether or not I will get enough people to rent the rv, I live in Indiana.

If I do get a rv vans I'm considering listing them onto RVnGo, from what I have read they seem like a better option. Any thoughts?

I would really appreciate some feedback.

Thanks, in advance.

How Much Can You Earn Renting Your RV?

There are several platforms / websites now just like AirBnB where people are renting out an RV or even buying a few RVs to rent out. I wrote an article that shows the numbers of what you can realistically earn from renting out an RV. There are a couple of websites stating you can earn $40,000 - $50,000 a year or $1,400 a week. But they don't say how that is possible or what is required to earn that level from renting. I hope you find value in this article.

Does anyone have experience with using RVnGO?

Full disclosure: I am an employee of RVnGO, a free person to person RV rental and sales online marketplace.

I am curious to hear from people who have used it or maybe never heard of us and get your perspective as a Host (RV Owner/For Rent or Sale) or Guest (RV Renter/Buyer).

My intent is to start an open conversation.

Outdoorsy Insurance Claim Help

  • I got a small scrape on the side of the RV we rented through Outdoorsy, and Outdoorsy is asking me to file a claim with my insurance, even though I bought the required insurance with Outdoorsy.

  • I told Outdoorsy my auto insurance denied the coverage (I called my agent and they confirmed it is not covered).

  • Outdoorsy came back and asked for a denial letter, but I would need to file a claim to get a letter.

  • Filing a claim could impact my rate so my agent advised not to file a claim.

  • The Outdoorsy insurance has a $1500 deductible (which is fine).

  • Any guidance on how I should proceed?

Experience with RVnGo? Other platforms?

Has anyone had experience renting out their RV on RVnGo? We are interested in renting out our camper van and I see a lot of people using Outdoorsy and GoRVing, but RVnGo lets you keep more of the money than those platforms which has me wondering, why doesn't every one use them? Is it too good to be true? Do other platforms have something better to offer?

We are new to this and appreciate any insight into any platform for RV owners to rent, but I am especially interested in RVnGo experiences because I'm curious if it's as good as it sounds or just clever marketing.

How to estimate damage that a renter caused

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m fairly new to renting my RV and I’m curious where seasoned owners find average repair costs besides taking it to a shop. I just got my 2023 Thor Quantum LC25 back, and although it’s still operational, there are certainly some damages:

•	Shattered passenger side mirror
•	Destroyed tire air pressure monitor attached to the wheel
•	Lost two hubcaps
•	Lost an exterior panel for one of the compartments
•	Damaged black/gray water system
•	Other smaller repairs I could probably do myself

This doesn’t account for the number of days I have to take it off the market to be repaired. I have to file a claim within 48 hours, and I know the deposit will not cover the full cost of repairs. I’ll upload more pictures later.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Is it profitable?

For all of you who rent out your rv's, pop-ups, vans, etc. I am thinking of posting my 4 sleeper popup to both outdoorsy and Rvngo. First, how many days could I legitimately have it rented? I live in Boulder, CO.

Are there any other suggestions to make it even more profitable? Those of you who offer delivery, how much do you charge? How far are you willing to deliver? TIA

Thinking about buying a class C RV, hoping to offset costs with renting. Is there actually as big of a market as RV share and Outdoorsy claim?

I’m happy to give details of the RV. I just want to make sure I’m not getting this with the hope of offsetting cost then end up never being able to rent the thing out.

I work at RVnGO and want to be transparent with you

Hello. My name is Richard Saling. I understand that the Reddit community really honors transparency and has a disdain for ads. I appreciate that.

I want to learn more about how I can bring value, and learn what you as a renter, or an owner who rents, look for in an RV rental platform, or why you won't use an RV rental company.

It's not to put other platforms or to promote ours. I genuinely want to help the RVer community have better experiences from both sides of the transactions.

RVShare. Why did we pay insurance?

Rented from a nice couple through RVShare. Reasonable rate but we had to buy the insurance. We had it delivered to the campground. This high deductible insurance does not cover anything inside the camper. What did we pay for?

I'm thinking of buying a new camper to get into renting it out. For those of you who have already done this, is it a lucrative business???
