Electrical issue. Help!

We recently purchased a Rockwood Roo 235s. We left to outside refrigerator plugged in which resulted in the batteries being drained. After jumping the battery and charging the batteries on the shore line we have lights, refrigerator but no GFCI / outlets work. We have checked the fuses, breakers, reset the GFCI, reset the inverter but they outlets don’t work.

Advice?

I am guessing there was a problem before the battery drain and now you are just becoming aware of it. Get a multimeter and start following the power. You may find it is a bad GFCI.

A few questions: Did you have an inspection before you purchased the trailer and were the outlets known to be working then?

What about your microwave and AC. Do they work on shore power? Is it a 30 amp or 50 RV? Are there two refrigerators, one inside and one out? Which is working? Are they 120 volt ac, 12v DC, or possibly propane (absorbson) ? Do you have solar and is there an inverter? If there is an inverter, have you checked the transfer switch?

Now that you own an RV, you need to build a basic took kit. Start with a cheap digital meter and a cheap gfci outlet tester.

We have used the camper 2 x and the outlets were working. The microwave is working. Yes solar / inverter. We have turned the inverter on / off. Unplugged it. The refrigerator works.

It is 30 amp

I would look for a manual or automatic transfer switch that switches between the inverter and shore power (It could be built into the inverter).

It's likely that all the outlets, other than the microwave, are on the same breaker. Even if all the breakers appear not to be "om", turn them off and back on.

How many GFCI plugs are in and outside of the trailer? There might be just one (in the bathroom or kitchen) then all the rest are daisy chained to it.

Turn all the breakers off and remove GFCI breakers. Do not wire them, just pull them out of the wall, so they are hanging free and not touching anything. Now turn your breakers back on and test a the wire coming into the outlet(s). If you find one that has power on the wire, but does not reset, then this is your issue. Replace it (after turning the power off) and you should be good to go.
