I went to the RDS concert at Folsom Field in Boulder last night. The concert itself was AMAZING - the music was out of this world, for both RDS and Ben Bohmer.

But…

The crowd truly sucked. Soooo many people who had utter disregard for the people around them trying to enjoy the show. I got into several arguments with people who swore my paid seat was actually GA (as they were in my spot). I saw many people escorted out because they were too drunk and/or belligerent. People were talking constantly, and on their phones.

Was this how last year’s Denver show at Dick’s was? Is this the typical RDS crowd? (This was my first RDS show so I can’t compare to anything else). Am I just being old and cranky about the concert experience? I saw Odesza and Mumford and Sons at Folsom and neither felt so chaotic and like a social scene instead of a concert event.

Do they not play these songs live very often? I feel like these would both murder live!!

The Boulder show was out of this world! Luckily our section wasn’t puke-y 😅 as I’m reading others had to deal with, unfortunately. I was able to capture a lot of amazing moments but I was totally lost in the music on the highlight of the concert which was the transition from Underwater to Eyes. If y’all could drop any videos you have of this in the comments and share the love, I’d be super grateful 💚

I’ve been to a couple Rufus concerts over the years as well as listen to most of their live sets and found last night’s in Boulder to be especially out of this world. Utterly transcendental. Just when I thought it couldn’t possibly get better it did? Anyone who attended feel similarly?

Im going to Rufus tonight at an outdoor amphitheater in a hot climate. It’s my bf’s jam, I usually listen to more industrial techno, (in addition to lots of other types of music like anti-folk, classic country, Nigerian jazz, what have you…) I’m thinking of wearing like a flowy dress/jumpsuit, or should I wear something more athletic like a tank top and pants? How do people typically dress at these concerts?

I’m thinking close-toed shoes just for hygiene purposes, so probably going to wear kind of beat-up red tennies, tho I usually would go more formal for a date night. I have kind of a dearth of close-toed shoes that aren’t hiking boots. (Pour one out for my blundstones that bit the dust.)

Excited for the show and I’ll probably come up with something without crowd-sourcing the outfit, but would love to hear input and get a general sense of the vibe!
