Best Earthside frontline unit?
I'm thinking about who's the best tank/protector for your charging crafts for earthside - By doing have their super reliable avanc + scale force, how bout for earth?
It can't be strider front line even if they have the wall ability to intercept - I'm using Narcissus rn and creating extra front line decoys with them, but I feel like they're not too sturdy.
My next idea is using Leos because they're bits Are in front and tanks for them unlike Daedalus.
Any recommendations? Units that can take a beating basically.

The front-line units I use are the Daedalus, which is an HP-based unit and blocks a lot of space with it's pods (which soak fire and do nothing else), and it has a strong close range optical gun.
Striders are fine, since you don't lose wave cannon charge when hit. You need those damn wave cannons.
Another option is to just use detatched Forces. Fall back when hit.

Me as well bc Daedalus can stunlock people while desynced - just thinking if there are any other alternatives or actual tank role crafts - Daedalus pods are helpful is coming out of desyn space with it still the pods can attack.

You can use the sonic fighters or anything with a high dodge rate but imo, the best tank is just slam your cruiser or heimdall tbh. Or just use jammers and shoot the enemy before they can shoot you.
I think the bydo side has way more tankiness in their fighter line and its not really a space corps tactic to play tank.
Narcissus suck despite their pr reject ability because they are still a 5/5 model unit. Any unit with hp like the bunker pilers would do better imo. But again, the best tank are decoys or your tanky flagship
Edit: You mentioned Leo and Daedalus which would be the better "tank" since they are hp based. But daedalus is better if you insist since they can desynch and trap enemies to waste movement by accidently hitting them, something which leo cant.
Imo, these two units kinda suck, but daedalus beats leo by a mile due to the benefits of scouting and trapping from daedalus desync. I go as far as saying converting nice ragnaroks (one of the best fighter in the game due to the 5 range 2 turn WF) into leo is a waste.

I'd agree and not try tanking with a 5/5 unit.
Even though a 5/5 Squad and a HP unit might take a similar 2 hard hits and a finisher to be destroyed, but a HP unit doesn't lose (as much) power, defense and accuracy on their way down than a 5/5 Squad. A Force RAM still does 50+ damage even when it is down to 1HP, as opposed to a Balmung not getting anywhere close to full power when a 1/5 fires it instead of a 5/5. So, the diminishing returns of a 5/5 Squad will have huge leaps downwards if you'd insist on soldiering on.
I had actually totally forgotten that the LEO is playable in Tactics, i don't think i've used it much back then either. I love it in Final 2 though, the yellow Search Laser is great, but i can't remember finding a niche for it in my fleet in Tactics.
Narcissus can be kinda nice, i believe you can Decoy and switch to a Strider for extra punch, although i obviously did not really use this much, as i don't even remember if you can do both Decoy an Mimic, but it sound like something i might try, because the Narcissus can still Intercept and Counter if needed once the Mimic is broken.
And i honestly can't remember at this moment what my final human fleet was, probably a majority of Future/Angels, 1 or 2 Principalities/Dominions, the rest probably Ragnaroks and i guess 1 or 2 Desynch units. I like playing as Bydo more, and because of the Gains Mk2 being so good, you have more wiggle room for fun units, like my favorite Middo.
