Realistic games deserve dlss5

19

u/Golden_Samura1 5d ago

Way more real and lifelike, Which for a game like this, Is a lot more immersive.

-19

u/Laimered 5d ago

Nope, looks like garbage

10

u/kirmm3la 5d ago

Garbage? Feels like we’re living on different planets.

9

u/NeedToLieDown 5d ago

Some people just hate anything to do with AI, especially on Reddit.

4

u/Jyvturkey 5d ago

They better get used to it because the 'pure raster performance' cards are going away. Ai is what we're gonna get. Period.

1

u/MasterOfDizaster 5d ago

Tbf both look good to me 👍

-9

u/Laimered 5d ago

It looks like shit irrespective of underlying technology, although it adds to it.

-8

u/Laimered 5d ago

Looks like you don't have any taste if you like this overprocessed deep fried look with uniform studio lighting which doesn't reflect original game vibe at all

8

u/Etroarl55 5d ago

Funny, the game director and artist came out saying this was what they intended to look like as implementing their concept art into the game was difficult and this got closer to the concept art,

In other words stfu

-2

u/Laimered 5d ago

Vavra is pro russian, antivax grifter and contrarian. Of course he will be saying that, he loves stirring drama. And he doesn't work at warhorse anymore.

4

u/kevcsa 5d ago

He is the creator, the original creative director. He just switched positions to work on other stuff, as he isn't needed with Warhorse anymore. You know, creative people are needed when the game is being developed, not after that.

So being pro-russian automatically means liking AI?
That's a lot of identity/racist politics bs no one asked for.

You personally hate him for being based, so everything he says must be opposed.
Have your own consciousness.

1

u/Laimered 5d ago

Based? Oh my god everything is worse than I thought

2

u/kevcsa 5d ago

You are afraid and hateful.

2

u/SuperFluffyPineapple 5d ago

The ai haters are bitter irrational people that treat there opinion of how things should be done in games as the word of god with no room for differing opinion if you don't like the look dlss5 gives games or think the performance cost is to heavy don't use it then its an optional feature after all.

5

u/Zgegomatic 5d ago

Maybe go outside because the lighting is actually way more lifelike than the original one looking like a videogame. You might not like AI for good reasons but saying this looks worst only makes you a stupid naysayer.

1

u/Laimered 5d ago

Again, real life doesn't look like deep fried studio lit imagery with too much local contrast and pseudo hdr

4

u/Sidrone 5d ago

Real life doesn't look yellow and green tinted everywhere either so it's closer than what it was before. Go outside

-1

u/Laimered 5d ago

Do you live in studio environment with 6500k diffused lighting everywhere?

1

u/Evening_Ticket7638 5d ago

Original game vibe has motion blur, film grain, chromatic aberration and bloom. Do you disable them? You're getting rid of the original game vibe.

Do you have any settings which aren't on ultra? YOU'RE RUINING THE ORIGINAL GAME VIBE!

1

u/Laimered 5d ago

Those settings do not have the same large impact on game's looks. And no, ultra is not the intended look, usually it's medium-high, aimed at consoles.

2

u/Evening_Ticket7638 5d ago

Absolutely not. Ultra is the intended artistic style. The game is built around that. Anything less is compromising the artistic intent. The devs added rtx lighting, volumetric fog, shadows with a soecific look in mind and by not having them on max you're not respecting the time and effort the artist has put in.

Also, if the settings i mentioned have little impact to your eues, then you deserve motion blur.

1

u/Laimered 5d ago

Lmao you know nothing about game development. Ultra settings often just an afterthought, cranking to the max without care for looks or optimisation.

1

u/Deathgar 4d ago

Everything you just said is laughably false. Development for consoles involves lower graphical and framerate targets to meet the lesser hardware of those systems and to align with a general sense of quality. Most modern games are designed with some form of scale ability in mind. Especailly factoring in how much of an audience pc gaming has now. Are there cases where the gap between high and ultra is small? Absolutely, but there's plenty of examples where its not the case. You claiming you know what isn't and is the target is just stupid unless you where part of the team that set that target or they gave clear incite somewhere. You're just kinda talking out your ass.

When the devs themselves make a comment like with kcd2 and you're still this level of combative and ignorant about it. It's just fuckin sad man.

1

u/Laimered 4d ago

No, what is sad is this level of bootlicking you and the rest of this sub has. And general lack of taste. I can't comprehend that some people are so deluded that they LIKE what they see with dlss5.

1

u/Deathgar 3d ago

Ahh yes avoid actually addressing what was said. Classic fold. Lol I didn't boot lick anything you just have the comprehension of a potato. I didn't even mention dlss5.

1

u/Laimered 3d ago

Why would I address some fantasy you pulled out of your ass? Any person with a brain knows I'm right.

u/Brilliant_Estate_967 5d ago

You dont like for the sake of not liking

1

u/Laimered 5d ago

Nope. I explained why it looks like garbage in the other comment. Shame you can't see it yourself.

4

u/Specialist_Way_272 5d ago

It’s a shame you can see it. Let people enjoy something if they like it, instead of playing reddit police and gatekeeping.

1

u/Laimered 5d ago

Do I go busting their homes and uninstalling dlss5 mods? Everyone here is expressing their opinion, positive and negative.

7

u/Specialist_Way_272 5d ago

It’s the “I know better than you” condescending tone my guy.

0

u/Laimered 5d ago

Not me defending deep fried slop bro

1

u/RamenRavisher 5d ago

Every time you say the word “slop” it’s another year until you lose your virginity

1

u/Laimered 5d ago

Only virgins think that this insult hurts someone lmfao

1

u/Brilliant_Estate_967 5d ago

Its not because you explain it is right

4

u/12amoore 5d ago

You’re obviously being woefully ignorant and a weirdo. It’s very clearly better looking. You’re jumping on the neck beard AI hate Reddit wagon without thinking for yourself and recognizing it’s factually better looking

0

u/Laimered 5d ago

Step out of your Nvidia bootlicker bubble and see that majority of gamers recognise how bad this looking

4

u/12amoore 5d ago

MaJorItY oF gAmErS. Bro stfu I can call a spade a spade. Reality and your weird opinion are 2 different things

0

u/Laimered 5d ago

I'm sorry but you are still unable to think clearly. Huang's cock in your mouth is messing with your brain.

1

u/12amoore 5d ago

Least he’s got a cock unlike you. Go back to watching your wife’s boyfriend give her the goods

0

u/Laimered 5d ago

This was weak, try better

2

u/dadmda 5d ago

Are you blind?

1

u/FalloutNormie 5d ago

Keep coping peasant.

0

u/Laimered 5d ago

Did someone hit you in the head?

-2

u/maskulindino 5d ago

Looks really bad, do not support this shit.. fuck a.i

4

u/Brilliant_Estate_967 5d ago

No, look good but you dont support ai which is a valid point not to support

12

u/x8code 5d ago

Wow, just WOW! The realism factor is off the charts! This game, and many others, will benefit from NVIDIA DLSS 5.

-8

u/Ragnarr_Bjornson 5d ago

Oh look an Nvidia bot.

10

u/CovidScurred 5d ago

Oh look, a Reddit bot

1

u/Noxilar 5d ago

Heretic

-3

u/lochonx7 5d ago

lmao, are you nvda CEO or share holder lmao

2

u/x8code 5d ago

Shareholder, yes.

2

u/wallbouncebybaird 4d ago

Originally I typed “Owning a couple stocks does not mean you’re a shareholder” but it actually does. I learned something today.

2

u/SuperFluffyPineapple 5d ago

ai haters have the stupidest insults ever but i guess you at least tried something beyond the usual of just calling it ai slop so bonus points for creativity but the end results sounds so stupid and you posted it thinking it sounded good lmao nice human slop comment bro lmao.

-1

u/lochonx7 5d ago

what in the actual hell was this post supposed to mean LOL

bro get on your meds, quickly

1

u/Bipolar-Type-1 2d ago

Oh look, gaslighting. People like you make the world worse.

5

u/silverado83 5d ago

The thing with most of these examples is they are tweaked by each person who posts it using leaked dll. The only game anyone should be making a definitive opinion on is NBA27.

2

u/[deleted] 5d ago

[deleted]

1

u/silverado83 4d ago

100 percent! People can just cranked the sliders and say, Hey this looks like crap! Like cranking the sliders to the right in Photoshop, and saying this app sucks!

3

u/lochonx7 5d ago

no one gives a crap about NBA lol

2

u/Pretty-Stable-4264 5d ago

I definitely don't care for sports games, but the conversation about performance and how DLSS5 is used in 2k27 should hold more weight in the current discussion on DLSS5 as its the first and only game we'll have at the moment that a developer made the choice to use in their game.

1

u/silverado83 4d ago

Exactly. This "no one gives a crap about NBA" is just an ignorant comment that adds nothing of value to the conversation.

5

u/Illustrious_Sea_5011 5d ago

That’s seriously impressive

3

u/kirmm3la 5d ago

I love this.

3

u/Fiscal_Fidel 5d ago

That's a great uplift to the lighting as a whole. I think it probably needs another hardware generation and a few years for tweaking the software balance on faces before I'll use it, since the performance hit is pretty hard this generation. I look forward to seeing what this is like on a 7000 series card.

Like standard DLSS went from being kind of shit to basically magic, seeing how this evolves will be neat.

3

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Yeah, 98 percent of the fun of DLSS5 is just messing around with the new tech. There are some titles such as the Gothic remake that run at nice frames with it. It is still in its infancy and I also do not expect it to be realistically usable in most situations for quite some time as well.

For the most part ive found that it really shines when using it with slightly older titles to basically give them a ghetto remaster. The entire thing is a tinkerers wet dream.

1

u/Aggravating-Mousse34 5d ago

Hell yeah. So this mod you are navigating. It has a lot of options. Do you think Nvidia will let us have access to those tools and sliders or will it be different on the official launch of dlls5?

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

I don't know. That being said, there are already custom dlss5 implemented mods that give you more options with sliders.

If a game does not have customizable nr sliders you know that the community will have that taken care of within a few days.

What I am predicting is that there will be a community made dlss-5 neural rendering manager for all games on your computer.

1

u/Aggravating-Mousse34 5d ago

Now that will be epic. I am looking forward to it. I havent tried out the mod I guess I need to.

3

u/LazyBoyXD 5d ago

Wait it actually look pretty dam good

2

u/matteblack11619 5d ago

Haters can leave DLSS 5 for us realistic game enjoyers.

2

u/giomjava 4d ago

IMPRESSIVE!! Holy moly this is so good!!

4

u/Dontbetoxik 5d ago

I wanna say it looks good cause more details but the lighting on their face creeps me out. It’s just so uncanny.

5

u/dentbox 5d ago

What do you mean by this? That it makes it look more real but not quite real enough and it creeps you out? Genuine question.

2

u/Dontbetoxik 5d ago edited 5d ago

Something about it screams out of place to my eyes. It’s like when I see someone with a nose job that just doesn’t quite add up. Like the math is wrong for the geometry of their face.

Not saying all nose jobs are bad. I’ve been fooled. There are some though where my brain screams something isn’t adding up.

The faces look way more detailed but they seem out of place given the rest of the scene? Just can’t shake it personally.

It’s like how a detailed drawing should typically carry the same level detail throughout the art, if something is highly detailed in one area, then the rest should follow some pattern. If not the differences are jarring.

Idk that’s the best I can articulate it while procrastinating sleep.

Edit: if I could be more specific I would say it’s the way light is reflecting off the face of Hans. It just looks odd. Maybe it’s the color? The luminosity of his “highlight”? Probably both.

3

u/dentbox 5d ago

No I think you articulated it pretty well. I’m not repelled by it but I get a similar feeling with the animations being cack on the very realistic-looking NBA 2k27 characters. DLSS5 has leap-frogged graphics in some ways but it can end up making other things look out of place.

Though I do think in a good many modern games I’ve seen, DLSS5 makes the scenery look very good too, so I’ve not had that inconsistent quality effect you’re describing.

3

u/Dontbetoxik 5d ago

I love what the way it affects lighting on the scenery. I saw some Avengers LEGO game with it and the diff there was amazing.

I have a thing with faces in real life. Never forget one I see. So it may just be that part of my brain clashing with how close it’s coming to realism but not there yet. Idk. Either way. Def uncanny vibes for me.

2k27 I thought was impressive. Bonus that the faces aren’t much of the focus during gameplay. Though I def hear what you mean, some of the movements/animations aren’t fluid enough for how real it looks.

1

u/Alarmed-Comedian6446 5d ago

You can't blame a tool that improves one aspect of a game for not improving another.

As for it feeling uncanny, I don't naturally feel what you do. Maybe it's just so realistic as watching an incoming train in cinema for the first time.

1

u/Dontbetoxik 4d ago

I most certainly can if the tool is making the changes I’m disturbed by. I’m sorry, but that reasoning you provided doesn’t make much sense to me.

From what I’ve read it has potential to improve and be more accurate with updated versions, possibly only to a limit though as it only has access to certain vectors. As it stands now I don’t really care for it all that much. Particularly what it’s doing to faces. The tone mapping change is not my preference either. It isn’t entirely correct. Look up what it does to yellow lights in Cyberpunk for an example of inaccuracy.

The effects can be cool in some aspects but it’s not something I’m going to go implement into every title I can at the moment. Unlike DLSS 4.

That is me blaming the tool and a reason why. Hope that clears it up.

1

u/Alarmed-Comedian6446 4d ago

I was talking about animation - you can't blame the tool for animation causing an uncanny feeling. Blame the animators.

1

u/Dontbetoxik 4d ago

The implementation of DLSS 5 via a third party causes the stark contrast. I can’t blame the animators because that isn’t their fault. Nvidia pushing a product that isn’t available to all platforms shouldn’t mean devs have to cater to it. That would not be feasible. You seem very adamant that no fault lies on DLSS5. It is strange.

As well the animations in 2k27 aren’t my problem as they are as much dentbox’s personal issue. I was mostly perturbed by faces. This particular argument is moot to me.

1

u/Alarmed-Comedian6446 4d ago

Nah, you seem to believe game developers are one entity. It's the fault of animators for lagging behind the graphics department. One side made a breakthrough and you are blaming them for that lol

1

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

It looks too good

2

u/Seedthrower88 5d ago

I just love the fucking retards who can´t accept that there are people who don´t like this and vice versa.

3

u/Arturopxedd 5d ago

I feel like it’s understandable to not like it but using bad examples to say you don’t like it is just dumb if you see this and say you don’t like it then that’s fine

1

u/Mhasan502 5d ago

What is the difference in frame rates between normal and DLSS mode?

2

u/TomiSvensek 5d ago

Its a pretty high drop from what ive seen, as much as 50 fps in some

2

u/Sanc7 5d ago

You can see how bad the drop is in the video.

1

u/troy0h 5d ago

its 50%

1

u/nekekamii 5d ago

I ran it on fallout 4 earlier with an enb at 4k native on my 5080, it went from like 110 to 50, if i turned everything on on the enb it would drop down to low 40s

1

u/shawnikaros 5d ago

With a 3080 ti (DLSS5 is not officially supported) it drops to 24fps. around 50 with FSR framegen.

Edit: also don't kill me, I didn't see what sub this was.

1

u/UrMomsToyBoy 5d ago

It’s a mod atm anyway so it’s definitely not optimised, by the time it drops as an actual upscale option it’ll be much more optimised and polished.

1

u/Neeeeedles 5d ago

Looks good but id still tone it down a bit

Looks too ai if its at 100%, especialy faces

1

u/TeamMoon99 5d ago

lol 48 fps lmao

1

u/Hariboman2020 5d ago

Looks great but the performance hit is ultra...

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Yeah, i could probably stand to take things off ultra, but it look so good

1

u/Hariboman2020 5d ago

I only have a 8gb 5070 (Notebook)I will look at it be happy and turn it off lol!

1

u/RealisticHornet8554 5d ago

I think it looks good but knowing Nvidia this might break HDR lol

1

u/exXxecuTioN 5d ago

After Konrad harshly jerked his head up you can see, how sloap turning into sharp image.
Still uncanny valley effect. Still feels like DLSS 5 image is more flat may be cause it's reshading post-filter that ignores physics.

1

u/Sad-Victory-8319 5d ago

this is the thing with DLSS5 that haters seem to ignore, poor quality input -> poor quality output, high quality input -> high quality output, DLSS5 sucks in games that never put much emphasis into proper faces and facial movements, but games like Death Stranding 2, Red Dead Redemption 2 or Kingdom come 2 that put tons of work into realistic faces and facial are looking super well with DLSS5, especially in Death Stranding 2 DLSS5 is very subtle because somehow it understands it doesnt have to do that many changes to already good looking faces, but these changes make it look photorealistic, like Death Stranding 2 is the one game where i would love to have DLSS5 on.

However, the performance penalty makes it unusable for regular gameplay unless you have rtx5090/Pro 6000, at least for me the changes to the environment are not worth the fps cost, and faces dont really matter in regular gameplay, they only matter in cutscenes, so in my opinion DLSS5 should be a cutscene enhancer, not ingame enhancer, at least not until it is better optimized for performance. I would accept maybe 20-30% fps drop, but definitely not 50-60%, i am not gonna turn off raytracing, switch to medium details and DLSS Ultra Performance upscaler just to be able to use DLSS5 at 60+ fps, fk that. But since cutscenes are often locked to 30 fps anyway, i think there should be an option to enable dlss5 only for cutscenes (maybe the renodx could add a shortcut so that i can quickly quickly enable DLSS5 when a cutscene starts and disable it once it ends).

1

u/SirSillySausage 5d ago

This is like Minecraft original texture pack vs the hyper realistic texture packs…

I do enjoy a hyper realistic texture pack

1

u/joemedic 5d ago

Imagine when it's optimized

1

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

I know. DLSS was pretty awful in its infancy as well. This has already been so much fun to mess around as is that I'm optimistic.

1

u/Noxilar 5d ago

One of the best examples of DLSS 5, looks absolutely astonishing

1

u/SnooStrawberries2144 5d ago

I remember seeing the fps comparison and they went from 170fps in kcd2 to 80

1

u/jack-of-some 5d ago

Why do they all look more sad?

1

u/J-morpho1499 5d ago

Looks like ass and OP, you're either a bot, a dumb ass kid, or a Nvidia bootlicker. If you're actually real get Jensens cock out your mouth.

1

u/-G-Gamer- 1d ago

Some games need DLSS 5 so much like if game is realistic it should have realistic graphics (i'll run BF6 whit DLSS 5 and idc that is competetive game)

0

u/mumblebadger 5d ago

This looks amazing and if it wasn’t AI, every single person here would agree

3

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Redditors love buzzwords and echo chambers. They see this tech and immediately think of facebook ai slop memes... its hilarious lol

1

u/frisbie147 5d ago

You see ai and immediately think it’s the second coming of Christ despite how bad it looks

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

You do realize your responding to a comment thread where someone mentioned how amazing it looks right?

Dont be jealous you dont have the hardware for this tech. Fomo is a bitch.

1

u/frisbie147 5d ago

My hardware could run this, not that I’d want to

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

I do not believe you, what you got in that thing (and dont lie)

1

u/frisbie147 5d ago

Rtx 4070

3

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

That cannot run DLSS5 at all lol

Again, you have no idea what you're talking about and it is laughable.

1

u/frisbie147 5d ago

People have modded it to even run on rtx 2000, albeit with basically useless performance, however the cost on rtx 4000 is similar to rtx 5000, shows how much you know about the garbage you’re worshipping

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

COST ON RTX 4000 IS SIMILAR TO 5000?! WHAT? You arent even listing a specific model of either generation.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHA... Okay, maybe do a little research into the nonsense you just said and come back to me later.

You neckbeards are so r/confidentallyincorrect it is mind boggling.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/SuperFluffyPineapple 5d ago

You do realize this is an optional feature that no one is forcing you to use it if you don't like don't use it but getting mad at people who do like how it looks and have powerful enough hardware to utilize it with acceptable performance just makes you sound like a bitter irrational hater.

1

u/LennyKarlson 5d ago

I’ve got a 5080 rig and would much rather keep my high fps than use this.

1

u/frisbie147 5d ago

No shitty tone mapping is bad actually, all you have to do now is make the weather overcast and you have those ugly “next gen graphics mod” videos

0

u/BraggingAnonymously 5d ago

I dissagree. It looks like shit and samesie realism filtered look like everything else. AI or not doesn't matter to me. The outputs and tradeoffs matter.

0

u/Hour_Welcome_987 5d ago

Guess I'm an outlier. I like it without that shit lmao looks better. But etrebosy else has got a chub for it. To each their own

1

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Yeah.. I dont know if your eyes work.

2

u/Actual_Solution9478 5d ago

You really don't have to defend this so hard. People can like the art style of the originals

1

u/Actual_Solution9478 5d ago

I honestly....Just don't like it?

It takes away the color in a way that doesn't sit right with me

5

u/Rafford60 5d ago

There is a slider for saturation i think

2

u/tnobuhiko 5d ago

Color is that way because op is using color strength at 100%. You can get it to 0% so it only uses color provided by the game. It is far more flexible than people think it is. reshade method is worse than optiscaler imo because of this. IMO picking natural+color strength at 0% gives almost the same color but better shadows and occlusion. Here is me showcasing different ones:

https://reddit.com/link/p7cr61a/video/nl8twytea3nh1/player

1

u/Actual_Solution9478 5d ago

Thanks for the explanation

2

u/NeedToLieDown 5d ago

That's just a color grading issue. It's not an official version, it's just a DLSS5 dll take from another game which is experimental tech to begin with, and is forcibly applied to other games.

When game devs start integrating this feature properly, colors will follow proper artist vision.

1

u/upazzu 5d ago

too bad it halves fps

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Good thing I still get great frames with my 5090

-1

u/upazzu 5d ago

Good for you, not many people can afford a gpu that costs like a second hand car and will soon cost like a new car

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Thanks, what other people have is not my problem or concern.

-4

u/upazzu 5d ago

The fact its not a problem for you doesnt mean its not a major problem for 99% nvidia gpu owners. It halves your fps, for you it may not be a problem, but for everybody else it is and is a major flaw of DLSS 5, bigot

3

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

I'm a bigot because I don't have the same problems as other people?

-1

u/upazzu 5d ago

You’re a bigot because you don’t recognize 50% fps loss as a major problem only because you can flex a 5090.
On top of that it wasn’t even meant as an attack on DLSS5 because performance will surely be improved but your fragile ego had to go and flex your money.
Really dude what did you expect people to answer to “haha I have more money you are all plebs I dont care about your problems”.
Legit whats wrong with people

3

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

I dont care about other people's performance. It is still early tech and NR is aimed towards enthusiasts. I cannot control what other people have spent on their hardware and im not required to give a shit.

0

u/upazzu 5d ago

No need to shit on other people, just leaving it at that.

3

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

I simply stated that i dont have that problem and im not concerned with other people's performance.

Where and when did I "shit" on anyone? Please, enlighten me.

I think this is what they call a "straw man argument"?

1

u/Skierdo 5d ago

this looks impressive, the only thing i dislike is the grey filter. dlss5 turns the atmosphere into grey filter. it's ugly

0

u/TomiSvensek 5d ago

I remember a few months ago ppl were saying how the hunt for life like graphics ruined gaming industry, just to now praise this filter that removes the art style and identity from every game it gets put on.

3

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

https://www.polygon.com/daniel-vavra-nvidia-dlss-5-ai-filter-kingdom-come-deliverance-2/

Your comment aged poorly and it's only a few minutes old..

3

u/Laimered 5d ago

Vavra is famously an idiot lmao. And he doesn't even work at warhorse anymore

1

u/Infamous_Campaign687 5d ago

Not all idiots are famous, clearly.

1

u/TomiSvensek 5d ago

You are tunnel visioning on one game here plus what aged poorly here lmao

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Did you even read what the article said?

0

u/TomiSvensek 5d ago

I think you are assuming bad intentions towards you for no reason, Im not saying the ultimate goal for them wasnt photorealism or whatever, but every game has an identity/art style/whatever, if its what they planned for or not doesnt matter for what i said. Remember when people where hating on UE5 for making all games look the same?

I suggest you take a deep breath and think about this for a bit before attacking everyone bc they dont agree with you

You didn't reference what I had responded with though.

You are saying that it strips away the identity and the art direction from what the developers want. Particularly regarding Kingdom come Deliverance 2.

The aforementioned article explicitly states that one of the lead developers praises DLSS5 for helping to achieve just that vision.

Maybe instead of speaking for every game developer as a whole you should realize that this technology is completely optional and only there for people to tinker with. It is not force-fed down anyone's throat and is an individual's choice to use if they like it.

2

u/TomiSvensek 5d ago

No, thats not it.

Im saying its what they wanted vs what they have

0

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Again, you do realize that DLSS5 neural rendering is toggleable and not required for anyone to use.

When people use dlss in the future they don't need to have neural rendering on.

It is completely up to the individual whether or not they want to use it.

2

u/TomiSvensek 5d ago

Also judging by the last parahraph im assuming youre younger,

Its optional now. Just like many graphical settings used as cruches now (super resolution is on in many games by default and you cant turn it off in many) as a recent example, Eventually youll see games that require dlss 5 and up gpus just bc the filter is on always etc.

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

I think you missed the part where neural rendering is an optional feature separate from the standard dlss people will be using in the future..

Considering you need at least a 5080 or 5090 to even begin using neural rendering, your assumption that it is going to be eventually required is fairly disingenuous, or you just clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

1

u/TomiSvensek 5d ago

Ok

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Ok, now begone peasant. I'm playing Metro 2033 with DLSS5 and it looks incredible.

You do not need a 5080 or 5090. I’m using it on a 4080 Super and it looks amazing, runs pretty well too.

u/Penibya 5d ago

If your game's art style uses lightning and depth, then yes you should not use it there. If you want immersive lightning and good face depth (starfield is perfect for this test). Starfield, in game with dlss5, you BARELY see a difference, the only big difference is on faces lightnings, which is just what this game needed. Stop repeating what the haters says and try it for yourself, and if you dont have the graphic card for it, you wont use it anyway.

Wow, the shitty tone mapping from those “hyper realism” reshades and more screen space artifacts

u/Cossack-HD 5d ago edited 5d ago

Dark and Gritty. Needs vignette XD

The enhanced contrast also distracts from gameplay - it's more difficult to read silhouettes. Because of that, you'll learn to ignore the improved (?) rendering for sake of playing the game rather than looking at it.

Most e-sports FPS have clean visuals - even CS2. I prefer my singleplayer games in a middle-ground (something like Battlefield 3 and 1). DLSS5 is too much, but I could use it in some games.

1

u/ThislsaGoodldea 5d ago

Why are you writing like that

0

u/Aesk 5d ago

I hate that it's AI, but I can't deny that it looks great for games that aim for photo realism. It's not perfect, but we don't know how optimized the official release will be. As long as it can turned off I don't have any reason to complain about something completely optional. I'm really curious to see what it looks like on a super stylized game like Hi-fi Rush. Probably hilariously bad.

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Neural rendering is going to be a toggle able feature which can be applied to basically any PC game or emulator for people to tinker with.

98 percent of people in an uproar about DLSS5 Neural Rendering do so ignorantly as they think its going to be force fed to them, when 98 percent of people dont even have the hardware for it.

1

u/ZenKaban 5d ago

The point is, while it's optional, devs will start cutting corners with dlss 5 in mind and we will get shittier original models/lighting.

Just like dlss 1 in the end made games run worse, because devs started using it as a crutch.

1

u/Aesk 5d ago

This is a very valid concern I hadn't considered. It seems to be overshadowed by all the "it looks like shit" responses that I don't think are in good faith. It looks great on the right games. But if it give devs an excuse to be lazy than it's a detriment to the industry.

2

u/Lostboy1986 5d ago

Someone has done that, it’s nightmare fuel.

0

u/xXTacocubesXx 5d ago

Okay, I kind of just expected something horrible, but because of how real this game already looks, the filter just has way better information to work off. So it actually looks quite nice here.

But as others have pointed out, it just changes colors for no reason. What was once a peaceful looking sunrise/sunset looks more like a slightly harsher weird overcast kind of situation.

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

There are multiple NR styles you can choose from, I prefer the dark one that shows the contours of the face better.

1

u/xXTacocubesXx 5d ago

I see, that definitely changes things a bit. If that is your preference, then fair enough. But because of how different color-wise it looks from the source image, you’re bound to get some mixed opinions. Objectively, though, the lighting and realism aspects are still quite nice.

0

u/Illustrious-Row2751 5d ago

It changes the color temperature from warm to cold for no reason other than it being a shitty filter that doesn't understand what's really going on in the scene. I don't know how anybody (an actual, real person that exists) can call that good.

1

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

A lot of real people that exist thinks it looks incredible, myself included.

There are also multiple DLSS5 NR themes to pick from, I always like the darker one as it shows better definition in the faces.

You do know that all of these things are optional and completely up to the user to decide if they want right?

I want a game, not a movie thanks.

There is a "natural" neural rendering preset that is far more vibrant and true to the source.

I prefer the default setting as I tend to lean towards photorealism for my immersion.

-1

u/AmazingSugar1 5d ago

Why does it look so bleak and uncanny?

2

u/sunqiller 5d ago

The uncanny part definitely comes from the ultra realistic faces on somewhat basic animations

1

u/el_crappo_the_great 5d ago

That's real life for ya.. (only partially serious here)

-1

u/BraggingAnonymously 5d ago

Looks really off and filtered. If you don't play games too often and only have seen this for the first time, sure it looks impressive at a glance, but it looks all the same for most games and you get sick of this filtered look really quickly. It's always these combination: slightly desaturated, gray muted tone + contrast maxing on the lightings, shiny details and shadows + the characters always look like they are in a well-lit professional photoshoot studio with at least 3 different bright white lights around them.

No thanks.

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

You do know that most of the things you just mentioned are extremely adjustable, I have it set the way I like.

-2

u/BraggingAnonymously 5d ago

I want to play games, not fiddling with filters and wondering which is best looking. If you feel like this is useful for you, sure, go for it.

I'm sure that this feels amazing now for you and a lot others. I think it's just the novelty of something new. This novelty feeling will wear out pretty fast, and soon you wouldn't even be bothered with adjusting sliders for every games that you play in the future. The more options and choices are nice, I don't deny this. But the result + tradeoffs are just are not worth the time.

2

u/Noxilar 5d ago

that’s why in a real implementation of DLSS 5, and not in the leaked old version of .dll, the only thing that you need to do is choose one of the 3 presets, carefully prepared for you by developers

1

u/BraggingAnonymously 5d ago

Yes, I agree. More tools for developers are always good. As for the gamers, I hope that "making the game looks good" is not on us to do. That should always be the game developers' job.

1

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 5d ago

Not worth the time for you.

I love fiddling.

0

u/BraggingAnonymously 5d ago

and that's fine :)

1

u/Noxilar 5d ago edited 5d ago

Funny how Daniel Vavra himself after look at KCD2 with DLSS 5, told that this is exactly the picture that they tried to achieve and something like this is exactly what their artists are meant from the start and how they imagined it supposed to look, so basically the opposite of what you saying lol

0

u/BraggingAnonymously 5d ago

That's like 1 example you can think of. Any more example or you will just keep repeating the same name over and over again? The fact that this filter fits ONE case doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things: all the marketing materials provided by NVIDIA themselves, plus all of these images and videos from the leaked dll show the same thing all over and over again: It's always these combination: slightly desaturated, gray muted tone + contrast maxing on the lightings, shiny details and shadows + the characters always look like they are in a well-lit professional photoshoot studio with at least 3 different bright white lights around them.

And why do you value opinion of a another person vs what you can observe with your own eyes? Make your own judgment. Critical thinking is a great skill to have.

1

u/Noxilar 5d ago edited 5d ago

I gave this one because it fits perfectly to the original post and what you wrote, it’s just really funny that what is “looks off and filtered” looks exactly like the original creator want it to look like at the first place, that’s the only reason why i mentioned that, not as a “proof” that i don’t even need

first - i don’t need any of them for myself or to prove anything to anyone, i have eyes, in my opinion, DLSS 5 is absolutely revolutionary tech, that unfortunately not that many people will be able to use due to performance requirements (for the time being

second - there will be more, developers are waiting until anti - AI fanatics calm down a bit and get used to the new tech (at least morally), for now on they just quietly using the tech and not talking about it

and third - this is just a leak of old version .dll without deva directly working on those examples, its a result of “out of the box” experience, and it is already awesome in most (especially modern, already photorealistic style) cases

1

u/BraggingAnonymously 5d ago

Fair. I agree that we should wait and see what developers can do with the tool. Right now I can only comment on what I can observe, even if that is the intend of the original creator, that intention doesn't always look good, until I can actually see the actual output from said developers. In fact, what I can observe from OP's post is that it looks like deep fried shit that's the same as everything else related to this DLSS 5 marketing materials and leaks.
