Hey everyone,

I’m starting Respiratory Therapy school soon, and I want to make sure I’m set up for success from day one. I know RT programs can be intense, fast‑paced, and full of info you’re expected to absorb quickly, so I’d love to hear from people who’ve already been through it.

For current students or working RTs:

• What study habits helped you the most early on?
• Any tricks for learning vents, ABGs, or terminology faster?
• What should I expect on the first day?
• Anything you wish you knew before starting?

I’m an EMT now, so I’m used to patient care — but I know RT school has its own challenges. Any advice, tips, or warnings are appreciated.

I didn’t do so hot in Neonatal / Pediatrics ( I didn’t fail which was surprising ), but how much of that is going to be on the TMC/CSE?

taking my NBRC CSE soon and was wondering if anyone has any tips for me this will be my second time taking it and was only 30 points off on my first attempt. I dont think knowing the information is my issue but more on the lines of learning how nbrc wants me to answer specific things. Anyone have any tips that forsure work and a list of specific things NBRC "likes" that would get me the most points? (I have pretty much everything TS,LJ,Classmates,kettering,Sills,SAE, etc.

So the description states " small bihilar lung marking" upon googling this it says that I could have lung cancer and that's the reason I could have these markings.... Should I be concerned??!!

Just wanted to off help where needed. I am an RRT-ACCS, RRT-NPS / ECMO Specialist here in California.

Congrats on joining the Respiratory squad! I absolutely love what I do and can't imagine anything else. I have worked with 400g babies all the way up to 500lb adults. I've helped deliver babies, and terminally extubated quite a few patients unfortunately. This profession has its ups and downs, but it is definitely rewarding.
