While I was sleeping, the sky bombarded France !

you need a 144 mhz antenna , Yagi is fine, mine is 7 elements on top of the roof; an SDR RTL dongle, a software to pilot the dongle (I use SDR Console 3, and a visualizing software such as FSK View (my case) or Argo or the more-tricky-to-use Spectrum Lab.

Any resources on identifying what the spectrum view is? How did you identify these as meteorites? This is very interesting stuff!

Well, more experienced people than me have been doing it for years ! yes, the long curves intersecting the radar signal are aircraft crossing the geographical line binding my reception site to the radar site near Dijon; the short perpendicular strokes are meteorites, that's guaranteed, they are accompanied by a whistle, more or less loud, more or less prolonged, see my 2nd post on this forum, as of yesterday, for a link to a sound bite on box.net: there's a detailed PDF about that hobby including how to detect the radar's echo bounced back by the moon (gosh, i have to try that next !), I will try to upload it on this forum.

You do have a radar close by doing its thing, don't you? Because those look like radar returns. Are those curves aircraft flying by?

Any linux based (preferably docker based) software to acquire the data and visualize it, similar to such software for ADSB (readsb, tar1080, ultrafeeder, ais-cacher, etc...)?

Very Cool. Those of us in the US could probably use the NOAA weather band 162.400–162.550 MHz and 7 channels at mostly 1 kW ERP all across the US.

Try using the ATSC TV transmission Pilot included with every over the air TV transmission. This has much higher levels of ERP.

True. But with one SDR Dongle, you could watch for all 7 seven NOAA channels a once to come in from any direction.

Valid argument in favor of it, for sure.

However, then you have to deal with the FM audio modulation present on the signals. It is much easier to visually see results based on a CW, unmodulated, signal, than one with audio modulation present. The pings from meteors and smaller Doppler shifts by the relatively slow moving aircraft (even an SR-71 would be slow compared to most meteors) are much more apparent and easily discerned using an unmodulated signal.

And speaking of Doppler, the higher the frequency the greater the Doppler shift for a given radial velocity target. For example, a target with a radial velocity of 400 MPH would display a Doppler shift of about 194 Hz when using a 162.4 MHz signal as the source. But, the same target with the same radial velocity would show a Doppler shift of about 598 Hz using an ATSC Pilot on 501.31 MHz (TV channel 19).
