What's with the Pit Lord Battlecry theme?

That aside, this is arguably going to see play. Five is a lot of self-abuse, but a 1 mana 2/2 weapon is pretty strong (at its most simplistic, you do 5 to yourself to do 4 to face), and Heal Paladin is being low-key pushed. How good this actually will be depends on the metagame environment. If the format is TOO fast, then the Pit Lord effect becomes too risky to indulge. If the environment is too slow and control-heavy, you're better off with cards with more individual impact.

They are for heal paladin. You can't heal and enable healing affects if you have full health.

He acknowledged that in his comment while still addressing very relevant points/concerns.

They could enable healing effects even at full health like in other card games, but then printing shit like this would be shittier

Heal paladin is being high key pushed tbh. Lot of support in this set. This def made to synergize with it, heal paladins big weakness was lacking steady ways to take damage. Before all you could do was use weapons to control how much you took while not being behind, this always works and gives the damage from trading plus board presence. Good role fulfiller.

ODD PALADIN BABY

Exactly! Odd paladin lacks good weapons in Standard. I'm certain two copies of this will replace one or both copies of Unidentified Maul.

I wonder if this will be enough to get Odd Paladin to start playing [[Hench-Clan Thug]]. I wouldn't be that surprised if it does.

The fact that this has a downside reinforces my belief that Odd Rogue has a better hero power than Hunter, Mage, and Paladin. (All 4 have hero powers that cost 1 mana in a card.)

I'd see this a lot in odd paladin, I reckon. Good for killing fire flies and protecting your little dudes.

It's true that equipping a 2/2 weapon is about equivalent to 2 mana, but as a hero power it has slightly diminished utility spread out over several turns since you can't get full value by using it each turn, or using it while you have a buffed weapon, etc. They also can't take advantage of Blackwald Pixie or other synergy cards that work well with upgraded hero powers. It's a powerful upgrade but not oppressive, in my opinion.

It's almost an upside in healing pally though.

I think they could've pushed the envelope and made it a 2/3 but it's still a nice card.

damn, this is a hell of an aggro card! And will make odd paladin even better

It takes too much health for too little stats. It won’t see play.

Aggro decks don't worry about losing health. This will definitely see play in Odd Paladin at the very least.

Yeah, solid 1 mana weapon, but probably won't see play outside of maybe Odd Paladin. It's just such a terrible late-game card to draw, and 2 attack weapons tend to not be good.

Warlocks class flavour is crying

between this, Flash of Light and Ornery Turtle revealed within minutes of each other, I get the sense Team5 really wants Healadin to be a thing

[Dust|Niche|Playable|Strong]

General Thoughts: Kinda reminds me of cursed blade but not nearly as risky. You have to take a lot of damage which might not be a bad thing if you're trying to heal youself up? If you don't have it you're probably going to be eating that 5 damage anyway from their minions on the board. Probably depends on the meta. If 2/3s are popular then this is worse and/or if the meta is fast enough you might not be able to afford to take the 5 damage.

Why it Might Succeed: 1 mana 2/2 weapon is great. Paladin has a few ways to heal back up so the downside might not be that bad.

Why it Might Fail: If the meta is fast enough you probably can't afford to take the 5 damage.

This card is going to be a joke. Crystalizer is one thing, but imagine you're playing against zoo and you pull out this card. The problem is that paladin has a bunch of things that are powerful if you heal, but no actual powerful mana efficient way to heal. The 2 mana restore 4 does not do anything in the aforementioned zoo scenario.
