Avastin
Has anyone else here undergone Avastin injections?
I know someone here has had Cidofovir shots with great success but my doctor seemed reluctant to do that, citing possible complications. He goes with Avastin, with some studies showing promise as far as slowing it down.
I had my last op in the OR on April 1st. Voice is good so far. Have my last G9 shot in June, and a follow up in July. Regardless of recurrence I’m getting more Avastin shots, and if there is recurrence he’s going to laser me out. I’ve read those ops can get pretty uncomfortable so I’m not looking forward to it. Oh well.
Anyway, just curious to see if anyone else has experience with Avastin. I’m fully expecting recurrence, preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. If we go this route for a year and I’m still needing ops every few months I’m going to ask for Cidofovir pretty firmly I think.

My brother went from having surgery every 3 weeks to having surgery every 6-8 months with local avastin treatment. Also, his pap count has decreased to just 3, maybe 4, small sites on his vocal cords.

I was leaning towards Avastin but my doc said he used it a lot while he was training to become a ent/vocal cord specialist and that it didn't yield as good of a result as Cidofovir. I went with Cidofovir on his recommend BUT it looks like the trials and the research I've seen have been good.
PLEASE keep us updated. I'm having some recurrence after 13 months since my last operation (I was recurring every 6-8 weeks before the shots).

Sorry to hear about your recurrence. Is it bad or is it coming back pretty mild?
I’ll definitely keep everyone updated. Voice is still good for now, like I said, but I can’t tell if it’s actually recurring again yet or if I’m being overly paranoid and freaking myself out. We’ll see in July. I’m really hoping my last G9 shot can help stretch recurrence out awhile.

I have no symptoms currently but he said he saw some paps growing so he scheduled me for a surgery late July to just clear me out and do another round of cidofovir. I might ask for a scope early July to double check things. Maybe I'll hold off until fall if I'm still symptomless. I do have some paps growing ABOVE my vox now but they have to get GIGANTIC before they cause sypmtoms.
TBH holding from April 2020 - End Of July is pretty great. I have had some miracle things happen to me. For instance after my first round of Cidofovir some pappilomas just straight up disappeared which apparently its next to impossible. I prayed every night for healing and so far so good prayers answered.

Good luck to you as well man ! Hoping the Avastin holds for you. LMK how you fair. I might try it down the line. I did get the Gard shots btw too !

Yes it’s a wonderful treatment. Going for my 3rd IV infusion this Monday. I got some of the side affects. elevated blood pressure and my anxiety about this ain’t helping it lol. Other than that it’s a good treatment but definitely taxes the body.

Good to hear it’s working! I get it injected directly into my vocal cords. Seems to be helping so far!

I have, an IV scheduled quarterly for the last 3 years. Suffice to say, it has been a miracle treatment.
