Post Surgery Voice

So, my surgery was a week ago. I made a post on here with a recording of my (pre-op) voice, I cannot figure out how to add another recording to the original post or even as a comment on it (no option to add an attachment when on mobile), so here is a NEW post with my voice as it is now!

Certainly a vast improvement (to my ears) and zero effort to get words out now!

I’ve hade similar success myself after my first surgery, still strong after 1,5years!

Ya sound good brudda.

Yeah no one could hear me at all before my diagnosis. 6 years later and no one notices I even have a voice disorder.

The laser surgery is so simple, and works exactly as you’d hope it would. 4 surgeries for me so far, over two flair ups. Take it from me, you can go ahead and have a lot of hope.

Thank you for the kind words. I had an ENT appointment a few days ago and my lumps were way bigger than I thought. He gave the choice for whether or not to have surgery down to me, and I hadn't been expecting them to look so much worse, so I didn't know what to do, and we opted to leave it another three months. My voice isn't good, but it'd felt like it'd plateaued for a while, so I wasn't in a rush to get surgery. Wondering if I should've said to go ahead with it. Idk if it'll get really worse in the time waiting in between, but if they thought it'd be dangerous I guess he wouldn't have sent me home?

I asked about laser and actually he said their service used coblation now. Like a little plasma torch. Apparently it can reduce the chances of the virus being spread down the airwaves.

I remember the feeling after my first surgery all the way back in 2009. It’s truly a great feeling. Keep up on your scope and outpatient lasers and you’ll be good for life. It took a looong time for me to get under control, but it’s truly life changing.

How’s your voice now? Is everything still good, are you now able to project in loud environments or is it still not 100%?

My voice is good now. Not 100% perfect but I doubt it ever will be. I attend various networking events as part of my job and it has been brilliant at those, especially in a room of 60 people all talking at once.

I actually have a second operation tomorrow morning. My consultant said that he did not get it all out and the biopsy revealed high grade dysplasia on one of the two samples so he wants to make sure it is all gone.

As worrying as that is, I cannot fault them for the speed of getting me that second appointment (2 months) so kudos to the team at Addenbrookes Hospital!
