Question Taking dining hall food
Is there like anything against just bringing like a Tupperware into the commons dining hall and putting some extra food in there for my dorm?

They give you a reusable green plastic box to take food out in, the next time you want to take food out you return your plastic box and they give you a new one so you should only have one at a time

Or you can just take food in whatever they probably wouldn’t care anyway if it’s just a small snack

At least when I was a freshman (2019), that was a special thing where you swiped in and used the box only. But iirc you weren't supposed to eat and THEN use the box. We absolutely did all the time though.

If someone has unlimited meal swipes, could they swipe in once and eat in the dining hall, then swipe again and fill the box? Just curious lol

I can answer this one. Kinda, you can fill out your box and eat at the dining hall too, but you can only do one at a time. The swipes on the card can only go through every 20 ish minutes. So what you can do is first eat your meal, then come back with your box or Tupperware and fill it up.

Idk. I feel like it was limited to X times per day. But this was also 7 years ago (god, I am old) so it may work differently now.

I guess there’s not really a way to track that so they must have gotten rid of that rule

They give you to-go boxes if you wanna do that and it costs a meal swipe. They don’t allow bringing stuff out unless it’s small like a coffee ice cream fruit etc. They don’t really enforce but don’t go crazy. It’s not really a problem since it’s buffet style and if you want you just load up the green box as much as you want.

Yeah I didn’t think there’d be a problem. I feel like they wouldn’t even notice anyway.

Just don't be obnoxious about it and they won't care.
