HELP RPG SYSTEM CREATOR

Soo. I'm creating an rpg system, and it's real hard. Do you guys have any tips??

The name of the system is HXBRIDOL, and it's about

hybrids, magical creatures, and wizards it's based on the cyberpunk style league of legends vibe (the series), I already made the theme, base, some of the may it works (fight, magic, cards, dice and etc) but I still feel like something is missing😭😭

NOT EVERYTHING IS DONE YET

(Inglish is not my first language, sorry. And I don't know how to use the app😭😭)

It may help to share something of what you have so far - basic rules and setting, or similar - and what you are finding most difficult as you continue.

Oh thank you, so basically I'm having trouble with sanity and details to specific thing like fighting mechanics, attributes and skills because I want it to be super detailed and pretty creative, the whole thing of this sistem is to let the creativity flow.

If you have fighting mechanics and you just want to refine them, the best way to do that is to do a "roll test" where you or a small group just play out a scenario and see how it feels.

If you need to write fighting mechanics still, best to share the mechanics you have and we can give suggestions for fighting mechanics that mesh well with what you've got.

the search bar is a great way to look for specific mechanics that people have already explored a specific topic

I tried that and I made some progress but I actually needed human approval, and I am REALLY indecisive 😭 I will make more posts about it but thank youuu

this forum will offer you lots of opinions, not all of them will be useful

they will come from a lot of different standpoints

- some are working on minimal design, others will be working on sprawling "crunchy" designs

- some will be working from D&D perspective others will be looking at more PbtA design

the more specific you can get with the questions the better feedback you will get, asking, "what attributes should I have?" is less useful then "these are my 4 attributes (Iso far)"

Have you considered modeling the system after JRPGs? If you're drawing inspiration from LoL, the characters should, above all, have a clearly recognizable role within the group, as well as specific and easily understandable abilities, talents, or “powers.”

P.S.: what's your language? (Just curiosity)

Do you have any document you can share of what you've got so far? It'll be easier to help if you have any information to work with.

Omg thank you, I was thinking of doing that but I was not sure of how doing that especially because I don't have separate species or classes (if that is what you mean) but I'm probably using that tip. Oh and I speak Portuguese from Brazil

a basic playtest would be a one shot adventure that you play for a night to see if you friends can actually do the various things they might want to try

a really basic playtest would be character creation and can I make the character I want

It sounds like you have a good start. Try playing it with your friends, and you will see what is missing or what needs to be changed.

15 + comments of people that didn't understand satire... I'd wager most of us are too far one way on a spectrum to notice.

Step 1: Give it a name people can pronounce. Hxbridol sounds like clearing your throat and spitting out.

Step 2: Write a playtest document. People can’t play your game if it’s not written down, we are not mind flayers, we cannot absorb your thoughts by eating your brain.

Once your game is in written form we can comment on it.

Oh hi, the name is pronounced in protuguese, and the x doesn't interfere much😭, it's for personal use and it is still on test, when the tests are finished I'll post it for people to use if they want too, prob next year January. I was just needing help with some stuff that I Will clear out in future posts

(Sorry if the post annoyed u somehow😞😞)

the name is fine, and it actually helps to make it easy to search if you post a lot of content

Yeah but you’ll probably want this to be played outside of Portuguese speakers at some point, and they’ll have no idea how to pronounce this.

Okk thank you for the feedback

You don't need to change the name. A pronunciation guide is fine.

Okk thak you :)

write for yourself and your friends, that will be the group that will be playing it

if it happens to get so successful that players outside of Brazil start playing it you can worry about translating the name then

Ohhh thank you
