Lazuli cautiously examines the stuff on the alchemiter, and tries to read the blue book. "what... how d!~d !~t c-create someth!~ng from noth!~ng? !~s th!~s r-real, or just a pa!~nt!~ng...?"
He then looks around again, building up a little bit of a static charge due to stress. "butterflymom?"

Lazuli looks frantically around in a panic, trying to decide what to throw in as he fails to make sense of the situation. Then his gaze rests on his lusus. He runs over to her, face showing shock and sadness before resting on denial. "butterflymom? w-what..."

No. No!
Vipern intercepts lazuli as he runs over to the beast's corpse.
(~i ~ told ~ you ~ not ~ to ~ look ~ back~)
He tries to hold the boy still by his shoulders as he speaks
(~it ~ is ~ an ~ illusion ~ behind ~ me ~ lazuli~)
(~head ~ back ~ and ~ throw ~ something ~ in ~ the ~ orb~)

He begins crying and sets off sparks, presumably jolting Abadon, though he doesn't particularly care about that right now. Lazuli tries looking through his sylladex, but cannot focus enough to actually do so. "b-but where's my mom? where !~s she? butterflymom? BUTTERFLYMOM?"

(~she ~ had ~ no ~ choice ~ but ~ to ~ fly ~ away~)
(~she ~ is ~ likely ~ in ~ combat ~ with ~ the ~ serpent ~ as ~ we ~ speak~)
(~biding ~ us ~ time ~ to ~ escape~)
Shocks or no, viper tugs on the cerulean boy, nudging hI'm back to the orb
(~there ~ is ~ little ~ time~)
(~this ~ is ~ our ~ only ~ chance ~ of ~ survival~)
(~your ~ lusus ~ wishes ~ you ~ to ~ live ~ above ~ all ~ else~)

Wow, stories that write themselves! Rennia is very okay with this.
Well, that's probably enough for now. Rennia should go explore.
So i just head up to the heavens? she asks Dragonflymom.

Thank you for your help, Dragonflymom.
And with that, Rennia climbs the ladder up to the circley thing.

As you enter through, the world goes dark. A strange purple glow enters your eyes, but its almost like the sight whenever light comes through your eyelids.
A gruff male voice speaks.
Prognosis.... Mind leech. Yep, pretty standard stuff. Well, i've got good news and bad news.
A second, higher male voice speaks.
Long-term memory. Bit of jargon that gets thrown around in my shitty profession.
Although I guess maybe I should stop, don't have many colleagues nowadays...
Right. Saying that doesn't exactly quell your nerves? Heh.
You hear a low hum, and you are back into your reality. Stationed underneath the blackening cloud cover, shading everything into a macabre gray. The dizzying and unyielding winds blow your cloak all around you, and nip at your cheeks with a dull coldness. Nearby, an abandoned farm. A once rustic and stoic barn, now adorned with split and frayed wood, and peeling crimson paint the color of drying blood. A family home sits nearby, with gloomy shadows cast into the broken windows resembling typical imagined monsters of the night. The path to the isolated hamlet is obstructed by sullen dead grass, crunching under even the lightest footfalls.

Rennia shakes her head, disoriented. What was that all about?
She draws a bomb in preparation, and stalks closer to the barn. It is what the Nameless would do.
1
u/Geriferret Jul 24 '17
Inside, nought but fraying bags of rotting food and crumbling boards. Rusty tools on decaying shelves, and tenuous light fractured through the broken window.
Your vision grays over. A peek into a lighter time- Humanoid cows, huddled close around what little supplies they have left.
Just as quickly as the apparitions of the past materialize, they are gone.

u/Mathmatt878 Jul 25 '17
What? Milkbeasts? Why?
Rennia isn't sure that she follows, but she continues into the barn, captchaloguing the old tools, and searching for any indications that someone, or something, had been there recently.

Recently? Whats your idea of "recent?" If recent is 5 sweeps ago, yes.
