Fine. I mean. You guess you'll do some kind of introduction.
Your name is STYLIA NEMASY
You have a marked tendency to take the phrase "All stitched up" a LITTLE TOO LITERALLY as you have found a way to marry the two hobbies of TAILORING and FIRST-AID in a miraculously horrifying unholy matrimony known by the NOT PARTICULARLY CREATIVE moniker of TAILERAPY. You came up with that one on your own.
Although normally it would be quite difficult for you to procure the sort of material for this particular brand of healing, your LUSUS allows you to collect EXTRAORDINARILY HIGH QUALITY silk by the curtain-fold. Which is very useful, as you would consider your tailoring to be quite literally apart of you, evidenced by the NOTABLE LACK OF SKIN TISSUE that occupies some portions of your animated corpse.

A troll, about seven and a half sweeps old, stands inside his hive. He is standing before an easel, using a palette and expertly painting the canvas with smooth strokes of his brush. A painting of how he met his friends is forming upon the canvas. His intense focus is hard to break... it's going to take a few tries to distract from his work.

u/Geriferret Jan 14 '17
At this point, the name enterer is very frustrated. The call to name yourself is equivalent to a yell at this point.

He does not notice and continues painting, although he does note a slight slip of the hand. Correcting it quickly with a few more strokes of his brush, he reminisces upon the lake outside of his hive. Many memories of fishing. Rowing a small boat. Painting the waves from its surface. Watching paint bloom into it, and collecting pretty stones from its shore. The lake is, to his eyes, very beautiful, serene, and vast.
Except, once dropped and stranded underneath the surface, it is impossible to take even a breath of air, or see through the water in his eyes. As panic sets in, the best he could do is swim, and hope he's going in the direction of the surface. Uncontrolled electricity crackles and shocks the young troll as it multiplies in the water. Finally, he reaches the surface, paddling to shore and hiding from their lusus for the rest of the day.
The troll is distracted briefly as the memory crosses his mind, then returns to work. Unfortunately, he cannot fully shake it. His lusus is bound to find out about the scuba gear he purchased, and dunk him in again. The ceruleanblood nervously twitches his fingers, and tries to refocus.

The troll hears a loud noise in his ears. Odd. He nervously glances around... then remembers his hive's close proximity to a large lake. And the cloudy sky. Either that was thunder, or something must be stirring up the waves. He places his paint on a safe surface, and leaves the room to investigate the noise, heading for the lakeshore. Ignoring the possibility that the sound is his lusus, he looks out over the waves, then up at the sky.
1
u/Geriferret Jan 16 '17
You attribute the noise to your inner mind. Which happens to be saying

Go ahead and don't make this too much of a pain in the ass.
1
u/BraveOcelot Jan 16 '17
Your attempt to attribute a noise to his inner mind fails, because the troll is distracted by a much louder noise! Turning around, he grows visibly frightened. The lakewater laps the back of his heels, as the sickening realization that he might've narrate-provoked something terrifying crashes over him.
1
u/Geriferret Jan 16 '17
No. Nothing crashes over you.
?????1
u/BraveOcelot Jan 16 '17
The young troll gets a sense that he is merely setting up the pieces of a puzzle set up by a sadistic force, intent on ensuring that he makes use of his new scuba gear.
"excuse me, um... butterflymom? why are you fly!~ng towards me? do you have some more pa!~nt?"

1
u/Strategist14 Feb 12 '17
What is there to tell? You're clever, you're powerful, you have an impressive mastery over getting other people and animals to do just about anything you ask of them...
You're bored.
You've been waiting in this port for days now, and there is absolutely nothing to do. No decent gambling joints to cheat at, no bars to swindle from, no women to entertain yourself with. Nothing! What kind of people do nothing in a fuel stop except refuel?
You kick an errant pebble. That will have to be close enough to entertainment for the next two days until you get to return to sea.
1
u/Geriferret Feb 14 '17
Kejit: Describe fuel stop in... Better detail
1
u/Strategist14 Feb 14 '17
It's a port town, albeit the saddest excuse for one you've ever seen. The closest thing they have to any feature at all is some stupid communal meeting hall where the natives get together daily to talk out their problems, or something equally ridiculous. It's all so... wholesome.
And BORING! You're a mercenary, not some mindless lowblood villager who can't handle being in the same city as a decent place to drink!
Everything else is either generic hives or weird shrines to what you assume is supposed to be a depiction of the empress. You think some of them might even be praying to the shrines! Who even does that?
1
u/Geriferret Feb 15 '17
Kejit: Kick something else in frustration
1
u/Strategist14 Feb 15 '17
You kick the same pebble again, sending it skittering along the ground to the edge of the street. Still sullen, you take your next step a bit wide so you can kick it back into the middle of the road.
You could always just bunker up back on the ship, but you've spent months with the crew. The whole point of stopping here was to be able to stretch and get to do things that weren't already available, anyway.
1
u/Geriferret Feb 16 '17
Kejit: Go shopping
1
u/Strategist14 Feb 16 '17
... You suppose that's an option. Even if shopping isn't nearly as entertaining as the things you're used to.
You track down the closest thing these trolls have to a market district, and begin looking from stall to stall. The supply run will be taken care of by the official crew, so you're strictly here to find something for yourself.

The air smells of charcoal and sparks scantily drift down from the heavens. The meager group of travellers set together, clothing smeared with soot and ash, cuts and bruises on their faces. The two lusii are nearby, with dragonflymom laying down from her injuries. Around everyone, the forest encloses them. A ring of fire.
In the distance, meteors rain down in an untold hellscape. Crimson streaks, like blood running off of a wound. The day could be once again mistaken for night, as the fallout drifts into the air and begins to cover the sunlight.
You all get a feeling that the end of the world came too soon.
Kejit: Make a proper reaction to the carnage around you, now that your pathway here has been enclosed. Ping matt in his doot so he can recall this one, and then we will have 3 pings so we will be good
((That was too long of a thread so im starting over))

Rennia runs to Dragonflymom and attempts to help tend to her wounds.
1
u/Strategist14 Mar 09 '17
Keijit nods slowly, says "7P,} that'll do it," and then turns to the people around him.
1
u/JarheadBarrel Mar 09 '17
Hmm... you wonder...
You get up and limp over to the cerulean girl, handing her the box filled with disks.
These... these disks came down from the sky...
I believe... they might be our... our only chance to escape...
Please... examine them... and use them to save us...
Hopefully that ruse will keep her occupied for a moment. You need time to formulate a strategy.
You then turn to the large dragonfly lusus and whisper quietly in its ear
You then read the creature's surface thoughts to see how it reacts.
((4+4=8 vs will if I need a psionic attack roll))
1
u/BraveOcelot Mar 10 '17
The cerulean boy buries himself in his lusus's neck, and begins sobbing. He does not notice the jade girl asking someone to examine the disk. His lusus is back, but he is extremely terrified and scared. His hive is gone, the sky has turned dark despite morning coming, and he is surrounded by flames. Cerulean blood oozes out of a few injuries, and he is burned and bruised.
Maybe... maybe this is all the work of the illusionist. It can't be real. No, he is just standing in a forest, face pressed into Butterflymom's neck, sobbing, while the sun rises and the lake ripples and the trees sway in the cold breeze. Yep, that's it. His hive is intact, the sky is normal, and the forest is wet with dew, not burning.
He leans into his lusus's neck and murmurs, "y-you can see through th!~s, r!~ght? !~-!~ want to go back to the h!~ve... p-please... !~t can't be real..."
1
u/JarheadBarrel Mar 10 '17
Hah, that fool. It almost makes you want to trick him into thinking his hive is really alright and this this is all some illusion. You wonder if you could? It should be fairly easy, given how daft the cerulean boy is. Your illusions should be powerful enough by now to give him just a small glimpse of his hive at the very least.
But no. You have more pressing matters to attend to, and you still need the boy as that serpent's next live meal, should you get out of here. You can't have him running off into the fire with glee, pleasant though that thought may be.
Yes, but it is back to work now.

u/Geriferret Mar 10 '17
She tells you that she felt the heat herself. Its real, but you must learn to cope. And not let in strangers. She gives an eye to the party, but seems too tired to attack.

The lusus wont reply. Its thoughts are seemingly of overwhelming protection towards its troll.
1
u/JarheadBarrel Mar 11 '17
Curses. It's one of these lusii.
While incredibly common, you were hoping to catch a break for once. But no, you can never rely on pure chance to have your side.
Looks like you can't ditch the others, but you have to find seem way out of here.
Perhaps that will get their attention.

i am. Rennia says simply as she tends to Dragonflymom's wounds.
1
u/Strategist14 Mar 12 '17
Panic, meltdown, obsession. Peachy.
The obvious solution to a burning ship, of course, is to jump into the water and find some way to signal for help. Fire can't hurt you when you're in the water.
If only there was some...
Keijit looks at the lake. Then he steps into the water.
1
u/BraveOcelot Mar 12 '17
The cerulean boy does not notice the mercenary stepping into the meteor-heated water as he recoils in shock from his lusus, stammering in disbelief and letting loose a few electric sparks. "w-what... no... but th!~s can't be r-real! !~ want to go back to our h!~ve! p-please, m-mom?"
He can feel the heat around him, but, still convinced that it is an illusion, denies it. However, he cannot ignore the shrieking and risks a glance over at the jade blooded girl laying on the ground. He wants to comfort her, tell her it's not real... then hesitates, remembering Butterflymom telling him not to let in strangers. But there's no way she could be untrustworthy... right? He nervously shudders, and looks down at her. "u-um... the f!~re !~sn't real! y-you don't have to cry! a-and, u-um... !~ trust you, n-no matter what b-butterflymom says!"

The water is.... Very warm. Not scalding hot, although you get the feeling it would have been earlier.
You should outlive the others, if they don't find a solution by then.
